Why We Like The Skydome Screen Room Tent
Our favorite location for sipping morning coffee is the screen room on our home's front porch. Unfortunately we can't take our porch with us camping, but we can carry along with Coleman's Skydome Screen Room Tent. The Skydome features a multi-use screen room that triples as a lounge setting, gear storage, or an extra sleeping spot, meaning we can adjust the tent to how we want. And the Skydome only takes 5 minutes to set up, so we can quickly pitch our site, grab a chair, plop down, and enjoy the weekend's camp location.

Pretty good tent
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- 4 person
I just got to test this tent this weekend on a typical cold, rainy Pennsylvania day. The tent kept me dry through a day and night of rain. I awoke in the morning to to a nice dusting of snow, and the tent handled it all just fine. I purchased it because I wanted a tent with a screened in porch area. There is just enough room to sit on the porch on a regular camp chair. Two people would be a little tight but it would be doable. I didn’t try it with the covers zipped down on the screens to see how much rain got in, but I didn’t notice a bunch of rain running in between the screens and the covers. I didn’t care for the way the poles are attached to the tent permanently. I think it’s a goofy idea that makes it very difficult to prepare the tent for compact transport and storage. Plus, I can’t just hang the tent up to dry very well. Lastly, the fly lays against the screens on the sides and back of the tent, so in the summer? No breeze and no ventilation. Again, goofy. I will apply adhesive cloth repair parches to reinforce the fly in those areas and use clips and guy lines to pull the fly out. Overall, I think I will like this tent for summer camping.

Good but not all weather.
Mostly love it. I like to sleep in and this definitely keeps dark. Haven’t had a chance to try it in the rain. Resistant against wind for sure. Keeps heat in if you have a heater. Fits my inflatable queen with about a foot to spare and put in a side table. The porch is the best addition I looked for when I was in the market. Love the porch. Currently on a camping trip in truck haven and the wind PLUS sand is not a good combo for this tent. This tent is not sand storm resistant. SO much sand in it. It would be convenient if there were additional zipper-able seals to keep out dust and in this case sand.

Not for cold weather
We camped out in Yosemite last night. This tent is not made for cold weather camping . Rain fly goes over a screen tent . Ice cold air coming in between the screen style tent a d the rain cover. Wish I had my brought my original Coleman tent. Will have to buy another one.

Great value tent
Three nights of rain and no leaks, and able to camp near a security light in campground and still need a flashlight or lantern to see in the tent, awesome!

VERY hot, not ventilation, a lot of condensation.
I would NOT recommend this tent for a family -- there is no ventilation unless you remove the rainfly and it is one of, if not *the*, hottest tents I've ever been in. unless you're camping in 100% shade at all times or the day the tent becomes a dry sauna. the lack of ventilation also leads to a problematic level of condensation. we camp at high altitude in the Colorado Rockies with low humidity and get "rained" on every morning with condensation. the "quick setup" features are also very annoying as you cannot remove the tent poles. this makes both set up and take down very clumsy. simply color coordinating all corners would make much more sense. it's myself, my toddler and sometimes my husband -- we fit comfortably but if I was to be forced into another Coleman purchase it would definitely not be a tent with darkroom technology. we hoped the darker room would help with naps at camp but it's so hot in the tent when the rainfly is on we are yet to feel comfortable or safe with a tent nap. it is incredibly dark inside -- to the point you'll need a headlamp to set up the interior if it's not mid-day. this may be great for some people but not being able to see your hand in front of your face in the middle of the night is not at all helpful if a child wakes up or needs to be repositioned. we now sleep with a light on all night. overall, I regret this purchase. we got it because we needed more space with our toddler. we've used it ~7 times in various campground vs dispersed camping settings. I would not buy it again and I would not recommend it. we are getting rid of it as soon as I can justify buying a new tent.

Cheaply made
Went camping one time with it. Had 5 mile an hour wind and it broke one of the poles. So after spending the money I didn't even get to sleep one full night in it. Poorly made

4 person Skydome with screenroom
I like the tent a lot so far. Used it to back country camp a few times already with no issues. We use a queen air mattress and have plenty of extra space. The screenroom is a great place for gear and taking off wet clothes.

Keep RP's going, Man
So long as they keep replacement parts available for this tent i should have it a very long time. The only reason i had to buy a new tent was last Dark Room Coleman tent had a break in tent pole. Coleman changed tent design and did not offer replacement parts. I adore this Dark Room style tent, the headspace is ideal for small family sharing the tent.

Mr. HoneyDo approved, fastest tent set up ever.
Overall definitely a 5 star tent. The easiest tent I’ve ever set up for sure, and now having done it once I’m confident in 5 minutes you could be up and running. It fit my 7 year old son, 10 year old daughter with me right down the middle. There really wasn’t any more space in the tent, which is why the enclosed patio area was perfect for putting our packs and shoes etc. The only drawback is the opening is pretty low and even for a 5’10” guy like myself you have to bend over in half to get through it, but its plenty wide that’s no problem, unless you’ve been hiking all day and old and sore. Definitely would recommend this tent for car camping and even some short hiking/back packing trips. I wouldn’t want to carry it for more than a few mile, but could be easily doable. Didn’t get to test out the ‘Dark Room’ feature as we were up before dawn, but the few times I was in it setting it up during the evening it definitely seemed like it was keeping almost all light out. Had to put the lantern up from the center support to be able to see enough to put sleeping mats/bags in.

Great Tent. Set up a bit complicated
We recently bought this tent and took it on a weekend camping trip. It was really spacious, and the dark room technology was super nice in the morning. I have a feeling we are going to love the screened in porch, and I really like that my dog can sleep separately from us (ticks). The only issue is that the tent is a little complicated to set up and the included instructions aren’t very detailed. I’m a lifelong camper and still had to watch a video to figure it out, but basically the tent needs to be staked out to retain it’s shape. The ground where we went camping was loose and we weren’t able to get the stakes to hold in place, but we made it work. Hopefully this weekend will be better.
