Why We Like The Rafiki Ski

We position the Rafiki Ski as a powder-minded tool for trenching on deep days whether in the pines of our familiar Wasatch Mountains or in the birch trees of Hokkaido. The length-specific waist dimensions provide an intuitive feel for taller or shorter skiers, and supplies ample maneuverability for the occasional groomer run. This ski’s easy-going character is described well by its Swahili namesake—Rafiki means friend—and Coalition Snow even plants trees in Kenya for every pair of skis sold.

This ski is an absolute blast whether it's carving down soft groomers, ripping down steep bowls or flying through the trees! They are lightweight yet stable, maneuverable yet powerful. Before I moved out west I would even use this skis on hardpack days out east because they're just so freakin' fun!

I'm pretty sure when Muhammad Ali said "Float like butterfly, sting like a bee" he was actually predicting the future of women-made powder skis because there is no better way to describe the Rafiki. This ski floats on any amount of fresh snow, even becoming one of my go to for dust on crust because it keeps you on top. Truly so much fun, can not recommend this ski more!

I absolutely love this ski. It is designed to be friendly in powder and that is definitely where it shines, but don't think that's all the Rafiki is good for. I have mine mounted up for backcountry adventures and the Rafiki handles a variety of conditions quite well. I ski predominantly in the Lake Tahoe basin and this ski is light on the uphill, but handles the varying conditions and sierra cement like a dream. I am a huge fan of the hybrid turn radius which initiates turns with a good little punch, but manages to still feel stable at higher speeds.

I'm an adaptive skier and am completely obsessed with these skis. They'll rip/float/fly through anything for me: hard crusty snow, powder, Cascade concrete, corn, all of it! The weight works for them. Turning? Easy! Maneuvering through trees/obstacles? Also easy! I use these skis as my backcountry setup and they've been awesome and reliable.

These are my favorite pair of skis. They cruise over everything light and fluffy, and handle the sierra cement with ease. They are quick to respond, and hold a turn with a lot of drive. While they are a powerful ski, they are still fun and playful.

I love the Rafiki powder ski! It’s great for powder and trees, it’s very playful! It’s also a great all around ski that I use all the time! It is a perfectly responsive ski and has a shorter turn radius. I like having a shorter turn radius for trees and technical skiing. This ski is one to consider if you will be skiing powder and natural terrain along with groomers which this ski is also great on. I am expert level and am 5’5” and ride the 172 cm (about 5’8”), with the rocker and shape I am still able to effectively control this ski and it gives me a stable edge. I highly recommend this ski!
