    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've owned multiple five-panel Coal nylon hats, because, well, they friggin rock. I really love that they're packable, but still have great shape after you pull em out of the dark, damp depths of your pack. I have an older more waterproof version that permanently lives in my ski pack and another new one (the new nylon is more breathable, maybe less silicon coating) for summer stuff.

Most of my hats have wrinkles on the front panel and are all squat from being stuffed in a pack, but the Summit hat has a nice mesh insert that bends, but springs back to keep the front panel wrinkle free.

They're easy to keep clean, the shape is practical but stylish. Shallow fit and soft top are good for under a helmet. Brim is plenty big for blocking sun.

    Just buy one already.
