    Still the classic.

Cinelli cork tape has been The Reference road bar tape since the early 90s. Why?

Cinelli invented "cork" (cork/pu/foam) handlebar tape in 1987. It quickly revolutionized handlebar tape. When I think we used to wrap our road bars in shiny hard plastic Bennoto tape -which provided essentially zero shock absorbtion- I absolutely shudder.

Today... Cinelli cork tape still looks the best (imho), comes in a large selection of cool looking colors, and works fantastic. It is soft, grippy, and shock-absorbing. It really does provide fantastic grip and control.

If you regularly ride rough roads or have wrist pain or carpal tunnel, buy Cinelli "cork-gel" tape at $22/pkg (less on sale). It looks and feels the same, but features a base layer of silicon, and is even more shock absorbing.

***By the way, Cinelli cork tape cost $12-14/pkg! That value, ladies and gentlemen, is unsurpassed in the road cycling world.

Yes, there are now scores of other bar tape choices. But none imo have surpassed Cinelli in function, feel, looks, and especially in price.

P.S. -Use black electrical tape to finish wrapping your bars. It looks much cleaner than the supplied logo finishing tape.

      Great Grip

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've loved the feel of this while riding. My old grip didn't have much give, but this one is perfect. I used it during LoToJa and forgot it was on the handlebars, which is what you hope for. I bought grey and so far it's stayed somewhat clean too.

      Bar tape brand bar tape.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

In the beginning, there was Cinelli cork tape. Since then, there have been innumerable efforts to reinvent the simplest, most basic element of a bicycle. The only appropriate response to this epidemic of over-engineering is: Git'cher damn hands off'a my bar tape.

I'm going to put this on everything!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Steering wheels, shovel handles, lawnmowers, you name it. I replaced my tape about 1100miles ago with Cinelli for the first time and it leaves nothing to be desired. I ride a pretty low-end specialized on relatively crappy roads and this tape knocks down a lot of vibration. I don't ride with gloves, and there is no need. This tape is plenty thick and holds up well.

      Feels Great

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I just replaced the tape that came on my bike. It was long overdue. I chose this because of the price and the reviews. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the tape. It feels great. I was not looking for something with over the top padding. This tape has just enough to feel comfortable but not squishy. I'll have to wait and see how it wears, but my initial impressions are very positive.

      Best tape out there.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is in my opinion some of the simplest and best bar tape out there. You get a soft texture with ample stretch and length to easily wrap any set of bars. Having a ton of colors is always a nice plus as well.
