The Chrome Kadet is an urban essential for crosstown commutes and everyday errands. Holding a decent amount of stuff for its relatively compact size, the Kadet secures a light jacket, small tablet, camera, keys, and wallet. Micro compression straps streamline this pack when you're carrying lighter loads. Plus, there's an external zippered pocket for stashing your wallet and keys on-the-go, as well as a padded U-lock holder at the rear.
The Kadet's nylon fabric withstands serious use and abuse, while the PU-coated main opening sheds light moisture from sneaking into the pack. This Urban Belt Pack features a messenger-style strap with Chrome's iconic seatbelt buckle, ensuring a secure, stay-put fit when you're negotiating congested, traffic-clogged streets.

Perfect Day Bag
- I've put it through the wringer
The Kadet absolutely fits all of my needs for a daily bag. Plenty of room for the essentials without being too bulky. A++

perfect as a camera bag
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
So i fit my monopod in this sucker along with a few lenses and my SLR camera, it fits well and carries all my crap, is comfortable and the buckle strap is pretty spiffy looking

I see on the Chrome website it says the outer shell will be "either..." Some tough nylon OR some kind of truck tarpaulin. Which colors get what, and how do I ensure I get the truck tarp outer?? The black one looks nylon all over in some photos and tarp-y all over in others. The brown and the blue one look tarp-shiny in every photo. What the huh?

I can't tell a lot from the pictures, but I have 2 chrome bags, so maybe this will help: tough nylon = 1050 denier nylon = black. I have this on 2 bags, the Ivan (the biggest bag I could find that could handle ALL of my law school books and protect them from the rain), and the Victor utility belt. Both of which are fantasmical. I still use the Ivan every day, and even as a carry on when I travel (I never have to "valet" which is amazing) and as a mini-cooler at the beach. I've kept a 12 pack cold on 90 degree days for about 3 hrs without adding cooling agents (ice, ice packs, dry ice, etc). the tarpaulin = tarp-ish material. This aligns to the aesthetic of the colored bags. I don't know... Most chrome bags are made out of 1050 denier on the outside, so I wouldn't chance it on such an expensive purchase. Besides, black goes with everything. If you never owned a Chrome bag before, you are in for a treat. They are pretty much indestructible. I'm looking at the Kadet to replace Victor. I bought Victor a month or so ago, but it's too small to fit anything but an iPhone 6 plus and wallet. I need something that can carry a few cable locks we use to secure our appurtenances to our bikes and Vic ain't cutting it.
