Don't barrage yourself with too much gear

Chrome is well known for creating messenger-style bags that can carry the kitchen sink through a nuclear Armageddon alongside a six pack, shoes, and groceries for good measure. Those bags have their place, but you don't always need thousands and thousands of cubic inches of stuff slung over your shoulder, so Chrome designed the Barrage Backpack to be a waterproof and seriously rugged bag that actually fits comfortably.

The burliest bag around isn't much good if it's not waterproof, so Chrome constructed the Barrage with two separate rain-defeating layers. The first is a fully seam-welded liner made from 600-denier truck tarpaulin; the second is an outer layer of Cordura's 1000-denier nylon shell fabric. Together with the roll-top closure, the two layers create a completely waterproof backpack, so you won't have to worry about your gear getting soaked when you ride through a shower.

To keep the pack close to your back, especially when the load is small, Chrome added compression straps to the sides. For additional storage, the Barrage features a webbed cargo net on the front, two internal pockets to separate wet and dry cargo, and two side exterior pockets for your water bottle or U-lock. Ergonomic shoulder straps, underarm industrial metal cam locks, a sternum strap, and an EVA foam back panel ensure a comfortable fit and keep the load from shifting while you ride.

    Small, poorly designed

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This bag is very poorly designed and will not fit anything substantial. The true capacity is much smaller than what is claimed. Packing it feels like playing a really difficult game of Tetris. Certainly not worth the price. Also worth noting is that I brought it from Chrome. And their customer service is awful. I tried returning it a few days past their very short 30 day return policy. On the phone, I was told they'd accept it. When I submitted an RMA, no response. A month later, I call again, and it's all of a sudden too late. I wouldn't count on this company to honor their warranty either. Honestly, their bags look cool in pictures. However, their just poorly designed impractical junk from a company with very low ethics.

    Nice bag with some limitations

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

First this is a great bag with great construction. For me the downfall is that it's relatively bare bones in terms of organization. The deal breaker is that the laptop compartment is unpadded but won't fit my 15

    Bulletproof and waterproof

This bag is tough and very waterproof. It fits nicely and seems to hold any amount of weight comfortably. It is so perfect for bike commuting in all weather, but wasn't quite what I was looking for though. I really needed a few more pockets for storage and organization.

      Great Little Bag

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Primary Use: Quick rides around the city, going to market, packing for a team bike ride, travel carry on

      The good:
      -Waterproof
      -External helmet pouch
      -Solid build quality

      The not so good:
-Doesn't breath well(like all the waterproof Chromebags I've owned) gives me a sweaty back
-The truck tarp keeps water out AND water in, make sure your drink is sealed!!

Yes I would recommend this to a friend.
