The Chaco Women's ZX/1 Classic Sandal takes a modern approach to Chaco's legendary support and go-anywhere attitude. Made from eight solid component parts, the ZX/1 Classic delivers reliable performance across widely varying environments, ranging from slick shorelines to craggy deserts. The double-strapped webbing creates a custom fit without slippage, thanks to the pull-through strap design and sturdy ladder lock buckle.
Staying true to Chaco's water-friendly heritage, the ZX/1 Classic sports a textured polyurethane footbed for extra grip when it's wet. The LUVSEAT midsole absorbs impact from uneven terrain with its ergonomically shaped foam. Another key component of the sandal's overall stability lies within its ChacoGrip rubber sole. This rubber sole differs from the competition with its aggressive lugs, which supply gobs of traction across wet surfaces and rocky trails.

Must Have Adventure Sandal
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: 6.0
I tried about 4 different pairs of Chacos before ending up on these ones. I first started with the ZX/2s but the toe part just wasn't working for me. The toe was too tight, and it wasn't allowing my foot to go all the way to the end, leaving my heel hanging off the back of the shoe. I even tried going up a size in those, but still wasn't working. I'm super happy with this style though. It doesn't pinch on that big toe, and lets my foot sit nicely on the shoe. I am a size 6.5 and went with a 6.0 in this style. If you're a half size, you may need to try both the size above and below to find your perfect fit. The straps are all adjustable, so you can adjust how tight it is on the top of the toes, foot, and around the ankle to give you the perfect fit. I haven't worn these in water yet, but based on other reviews, I'm sure they'll do superb.
Happy with my new Chacos
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Size Bought: 9
I've had an old reliable pair of Chacos that I wear everywhere in season -- they look good and they go everywhere. My new Chacos are as comfortable and versatile as my old reliable pair, and the double strap is attractive.
My normal shoe size is 9-1/2 narrow; I ordered size 9 (same size as my old reliable Chacos) and they fit fine. (I suppose if I had wider feet I might prefer a larger size.)
My one complaint is the lack of Vibram soles on my new-model sandals.
Awesome for water and trail
- Fit: True to size
I love these shoes. I find the narrower webbing to be really comfortable and also nice looking. These are an essential for travel because they are so versatile. Great traction for wading across rivers, works well for day hiking even on technical terrain. The best part is they also look nice just in case you go out after your adventure. All the fun colors made it really easy to find a pair for myself as well as my two teenage daughters(14,19) They love them!
I prefer this style that does not incorporate a big toe strap. Reason being that it is more comfortable and also if you are taking them backpacking or somewhere that it may get cold you can always layer with a pair of socks(not the most fashionable!) My girls wear 8 and the 8 fits perfect. I wear 8.5-9 and the 9 fits great.
