    Chaco evolved.

Chaco revamped the Men's Z/Volv 2 Sandal with contemporary styles for the modern hiker. Classic Chaco features include the pull-through adjustable straps for a completely customized fit and the toe loop that secures your movement and hides away when you don't need it. The Luvseat PU midsole has an extra soft compound, and an irregular grid-inspired texture gives the footbed extra traction. Chaco made the sole out of EcoTread partially-recycled rubber for a good grip and a green status.

    Not For Me

I really like the idea of Chaco's because they are a great product and have a lot of utility. I have tried several pairs and I don't like the weight and the strap design. Most die hard fans love these and use them for many different things but i just want a slightly thinner sandal with a zero drop and a modified strap design. I tried really hard to like them but just couldn't get over some of those small details and kept reaching for my shoes instead. If Chaco starts making a zero drop hiking/water sandal I might just give them another go but until then i'll stick with trail running shoes until i find something i like more.

    Durability vs comfort

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I think wearing a pair of Chacos is as big of a fashion statement as wearing a down fill Patagonia jacket or living in a van. Especially in college age kids, many times people buy them just to fit in. A friend of mine recommended Chacos to me as a hiking/exploring shoe. They have done great for me. When choosing which type, I thought a big toe strap would be ideal for the activities I do, and they are. I was also told that if I didn’t like the big toe strap I could just wear them without it. Well I’ve put these shoes through the ringer now, and they quickly have become my summer adventure shoe. They work great for any mellow/intermediate activity I do.

My biggest complaint revolves around blisters. I would recommend getting a pair without the tow strap because I'm pretty sure the purpose of the toe strap is to slice your toe off. I cant wear it without getting a blister. Beside that, they work great and seem to be very sturdy and nice to my feet. I also have started wearing them with socks and I love it! I just have to get past the fact that I am indeed wearing sandals with socks....

New Style, still as good as the old. I bought these to replace a pair that I had worn for 6 month a year, the past 5 years. At first I wasn't happy about having to break-in a new pair, but they fit great out of the box and are already super comfy.
I'm looking forward to another 6 years of summers hiking and exploring in these.

So there are things I very much like about these sandals and a few things I personally wish were different so with that in mind let's get started. First things first I'm in between a US men's 13 and 14 and I have duck feet in that they are very wide but mostly at the toes with a somewhat narrower heel, and I have very long toes on top of that, so understand that I have a very difficult foot to fit. Because of this I actually purchased a pair of 13's and 14's with the intent to see how they'd fit and return one pair. The footbed fit like a dream on the 14's with ample room leftover in the toes and heels, but the straps were a problem, they were very long to the point where if I were to pull down the webbing on the toe to wear them with socks I couldn't tighten the tops anymore because there was too much slack and the straps were a mile long off my heels. On top of that the toe strap came right over top of my big toes knuckle and it was very uncomfortable. The 13's straps fit like a glove, the perfect length both normally and pulled through, and most importantly to me the toe strap hit behind the knuckle and was WAY more comfortable and secure, but the footbed was obviously smaller and so I don't have a lot of extra space to slide forward or back without coming off the footbed. Long story short I picked the 13's because I value the security and the straps placement more than the extra footbed room (shortening the straps wouldn't have changed the way the straps fit my foot) and I still have a comfortable and supportive footbed that is big enough for my weird feet. With that in mind though these may fit some people kinda big and that's why I believe they fit a bit larger than size. Now as far as the features of the sandals I LOVE them, if it weren't for the sizing problems these would be a solid 5/5. The tread is nice and grippy on wet rocks and ice, self clean well in mud, and seems to be a solid outsole. I LOVE the footbed too, normal Chacos are just too freaking bulky and heavy for me, I might be a big guy at 6'6 235lbs but I like my shoes minimal and my packs ultralight, so to have a pair of secure fitting sandals that don't tip the scales like the normal Chacos do, have a relatively low heel drop, and still provides cushion and arch support for when barefoot sandals just aren't cutting it was absolutely wonderful. Over all these are a solid 4/5 for me only because of my personal fitting problems and I really like these sandals.

    Love These

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size

I picked these up in Mandarin Forest a couple weeks ago after my two year old Olukai flip flops started deteriorating. It took about a week for my feet to get used to the texture of the footbed and the feeling of the straps. But now, they're so comfortable and I love the versatility of the straps. If I'm wearing them casually, I can keep them loose, but as soon as I hit the trail/water, I love being able to tighten them so they're nice and snug.

I normally wear size 9.5 shoes and these in a 10 fit perfectly.

    Great improvement over classic Chacos

These are great sandals! I've heard friends complain about the weight and size of the classic Chaco so these are a great solution. The toe strap makes my feet feel a little claustrophobic but they get used to it. Great product. I would recommend. Fits large. I wear a 13 but bought this in 12.

    Chaco Sandals

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

Bought these as a gift for a friend who is going to be going on a big camping trip this summer. He will be using them for water crossings and normal hiking. So far he's in love with them!

    Awesome

I bought these as a gift and this is what they had to say:

I had the classics before these and I love these so much more. Overall theses feel thinner & lighter than the classics. I like the grip on these better too, which I find odd because Vibram makes the classics grip. I wear a size 10 in the classics & I wear a size 11 in these.

    Rock Solid on Rocks

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

Awesome support and a ROCK solid tread that has some awesome grip on everything even when they are wet. They do need some breaking in. I bought them 2 weeks before my trip that I was taking them on and I think it made a huge difference.

    Comfy and Solid

I originally started out with the Z Volv flip flops a year ago because of the tread pattern and have been rocking those for a while now. But after a few days of floating the local river I decided it was time to get a pair that wouldn't potentially float away.

I like the look of these a lot more than the clunky looking Chaco Classics. Plus the tread on these does real well when I'm doing short approaches for climbs here in the Wasatch.

My feet are just smaller than a size 10 but not a 9.5 and these size 10 Chaco's fit the way a size 10 should.

    Nice color, good price

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size

The 'distressed' color was a nice mix of red and grey- enough color to set them apart from the usual black, blue and green sandals out there. Size was right, price was right (why do these so rarely go on sale?!?). We did return because my nephew no longer needed them (he received them for Christmas) - but he was sure to point out that he would have happy to have them but was already holding heavy on sandals.

    Great For Casual Wear

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 10

I purchased the Chaco's on a trip with my family. I wanted a pair to wear around and fly fish in as I was going a lot of river crossings and wanted a good sandal that would hold up well. This was the only model the store had.

I purchased them and wore them around town. They were AMAZINGLY COMFORTABLE, but I returned them once I found a store than had the Z2 Unaweeps. I wanted the Vibram sole for hiking/river wear.

The Z/Volv would make a killer shoe for casual wear and that is why I gave it four stars even though I returned it. I will be honest. They felt more comfortable than the Unaweeps, but the Unaweeps feel like they could take a beating....which is what I need.
