    Z/1 Classic Sandal

It's no secret that Chaco's developed a loyal, almost cult-like following among hardcore outdoor enthusiasts and casual wearers seeking a sturdy, dependable sandal. Building off this legacy, the Chaco Men's Z/1 Classic Sandal delivers the timeless aesthetic and rugged durability that's legendary among hikers, river paddlers, and everyday wearers. Pull-through adjustable webbing straps provide a fine-tuned fit. The dependable ladder lock buckle cinches tightly to prevent the straps from slipping during active use.

The textured polyurethane footbed prevents your feet from sliding around, especially on humid summer days where perspiration is inevitable. Speaking of perspiration, the footbed's antimicrobial treatment keeps funky odors at bay when you're trekking across tropical jungles, alpine streams, and searing deserts alike. Plus, the LUVSEAT midsole cradles your every step with its ergonomic design and plush polyurethane material. And allowing it to excel over rugged terrain and slippery shorelines, the ChacoGrip rubber sole features 3.5mm lugs that grip tenaciously across trails and coastal surfaces.

    • Pull-through adjustable webbing straps
    • Injection-molded ladder lock buckle
    • Textured footbed with antimicrobial treatment
    • LUVSEAT midsole (polyurethane)
    • ChacoGrip rubber sole (3.5mm lug depth)

After purchasing a pair of chacos for myself a couple of years ago, I decided to get my brother a pair for his birthday as well. Here's his review, "My first pair of Chacos and I couldn't be happier! They have great arch support, and are very comfortable. I usually wear a size 9.5 shoe, and decided to go down to a 9, and they fit perfectly. Would highly recommend these over a pair of flip flops."

Great quality sandals but something about the strap system didn't agree with my feet. They felt pretty good at first but after a couple days in the river wearing these my feet were hamburger.

Very happy with the color selection from Chaco these days. The green sole is a welcome variation and as always it's the most comfortable and durable sandal you will ever find. I wear them every single day and my tan lines are fierce.

    solid and comfortable sandal.

I bought these the day after borrowing my roommates chacos after floating the Weber River (highly recommended). They were very comfortable, even with the toe loop, which I decided against just in case I wanted to throw some socks on with these bad boys. These ones definitely run a little larger. I'm a 10.5 in most shoes depending on the brand, and my roommates were 11's, I had tons of extra room. Not that it got in the way of anything, but I was able to grab a 10 and they fit perfect. Just enough room. And from what I've been hearing, these are going to last me quite some time.

We have a family camping trip coming up and I had a family member say they were in need of just a nice solid sandal and it was an easy response. Ive owned multiple pairs of these and have never been disappointed. They are strong, sturdy and super comfortable no matter what activity you are into. Size down.

I just got another pair of these because my last pair wore out after 5+ years. During that time I wore them nearly every day hiking, paddling, and just around town. The new pair is just like the last and I'm looking forward to many more years of use! Quick note on sizing: Since Chaco's don't come half sizes I'd recommend sizing down for a better fit if you're between sizes.

I love Chacos, I bring them everywhere with me in the hopes of having a sandal appropriate scenario to wear them in. These bad boys are being broken in but the process has not been too strenuous or painful. highly recommend!

    My last Chacos.

I've worn Chacos for ~20 years. Apparently they have recently changed their footbed and strap sizing. The 2 older pairs of Z1's I still have are both 11M which is the size I have always worn. Suddenly this version is a full size smaller than the older ones in length. So I tried 12M in this latest version and the 12 is the same length as my old 11 but significantly wider. Plus the straps are at least 2 inches longer which makes it impossible for me to tighten them down all the way as the buckle bottoms out against the ankle strap. I'm done with Chaco.

Just cut off the excess strap and have it sewn shut again.

The New Sole Isn't For My Soul

I used to always go with the Z/2 (toe strap) and finally decided to go with one without. This was a great decision because I can wear them with a sock when it gets a little colder. I used to love my Chaco’s sole but since changing from Vibram to ChacoGrip I noticed a decrease in quality. The footbed is still great and comfy but I would not use these for most outdoor adventures anymore, I cannot rely on their grip. Still a great sandal and the Z tan is legendary but for me they act as a fashion piece. I know that if you make your Chacos custom on their website you have the option to change your sole to one with Vibram so it is not gone forever. PS Clean your Chacos regularly with a brush of some kind, they can hold funk pretty easily. You can also floss the straps.

    First Time Chaco Buyer

    Familiarity:I've used it several times
    Fit:True to size

I finally broke down and decided I needed a pair of Chacos. I have been loving them. I don't think flipflops because of the strap between my toe and the insecurity on your foot. But these don't have the strap and they are pretty solid on the foot. I have done some boulder hopping with these and felt really secure and relaxed in these things. They also have great grip on rocks and dirt.

    Preferred over strap

Awesome sandal, I've been wearing for a week straight and for me there was little to no break in period. I have a wider foot and ordered this sandal (wide not necessary) and I have a 2E width. Also, size down! These run large for sure. Most of the river guides had this style of sandal as well, great for water.

I am always a size 8-8.5 in shoes so I figured the 8's would fit appropriately. Well, the size 8 was a good 1.5 cm too long. Given Chaco's are only full sizes I would definitely order down a size. Otherwise, loved the look and feel of the shoes!

Chaco's have become a staple for anyone wanting to shout to the world "I go outside!" There is a reason these sandals have become so popular though. They fit great, even for people with wide feet. They are easily adjustable, great for short hikes and simple outdoor activities, and maybe most importantly, they are durable.

These sandals are the classic Chaco build that I've used ever since I began wearing the brand. It does seem that with each iteration, the overall quality drops a bit. The outsole is no longer Vibram, and the new rubber has been wearing down faster than it used to. The straps are also difficult to adjust after wearing for a while. They still function well, offer good support and are very comfy, but just not quite what they used to be...

    Best summer sandals

I bought these shoes to wear for the summer and so far they are great. I wear them casually and maybe on a few short hikes, but nothing too big. They look good and feel good too! I got these because it didn't have the big toe strap and I haven't regretted it. They don't flop around like flip flops and they feel very secure. They do run a but big. I normally wear a size 10 but probably should've gotten a 9.5 or 9. That's the only downside. Other than that they are amazing sandals!

There is a reason these sandals are the industry leader. They are amazing for multiple activities. I try to have them with me at all times if I am in the outdoors during warm months. I wear a 8.5/9 and bought a size 8 due to other reviews I read, they fit perfectly so I would have to say overall they fit large.
