    Does the trick!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I can't change my own tire, but I installed this computer! Gives you the basics on a ride - just what I needed. This didn't work on my first ride, but I realized that the battery on the wheel sensor had was a little loose. I opened it up, popped it back into place, and it has been flawless ever since. Great, simple computer.

    Basic but reliable

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This computer is easy to set up and continues to work great over it's lifetime. It keeps track of the basic numbers like average and current speed and miles traveled.
I have noticed that the magnet needs to be as close as possible to the sensor or else you will not get a reading. I appreciate the large screen so I can quickly glance down to see my numbers. If you're looking for a basic computer that will last this is for you!

***Update*** After about a month, the computer stopped working. It wouldn't register any speed readings, but would occasionally register distance. I tried swapping out the batteries, but no luck. I sent it back to Cateye and it was a bummer not to have it working when I was doing some riding in Moab. Cateye was very quick and sent me a new one, which has been working flawlessly. But I do have to subtract one star from my original 5 star rating

I originally ordered the Padrone Smart computer, and although it's pretty nifty how it connects to your phone's GPS, I didn't love that I was always draining my phone battery on rides.

So, I decided I'd try the more traditional sensor model and I'm really happy with it.! Installation was really easy and it seems to give accurate readings that keep up with big accelerations.
I screen is a perfect size...definitely large enough to read while in the saddle, but not gaudy. Scrolling thru the different functions and displays is very easy, even while moving, thanks to the fact that you"click" on the actual computer, which clicks a button on the bottom side where it attaches to the mount.
And as one of the cheaper options out there, you can't go wrong.
    Highly recommended!

    Exactly what I need

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got this for my road bike because I just needed something simple to mount on the handle bars to give me speed and distance and it's perfect for what I need. It has a few other features that I haven't fiddled around with, but actually installing it and using it took me about 5 minutes and once it was on and secure it worked flawlessly. I love it because it's small, simple, and works great.

    Small and Thin

A nice small, thin computer. It will display speed and one other basic stat at a time. I will either have it display the time or ride distance. The one button to cycle through stats is small and on the back so not conducive for cycling during the ride. I probably wouldn't be cycling during the ride so its not too bad for me. They should have just put it on the side though. Cycling between elapsed time, distance, and the time will not be feasible while riding.

Great for price- does all you need

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Cat Eye Padrone is a great computer for the price. It's wireless capabilities allow for a super easy installation on the wheel, and the computer mount is a very easy to take on and off your bars/headset. It's small and discreet so it doesn't get in the way of your hand placement. It provides all the very basic info you need as a cyclist; current speed, average speed, time riding, Co2 output, calories, and distance. this computer won't provide cadence or rpm since it's a front wheel mounted computer. One inconvenience are the 2 small buttons on the back of the computer which reset the device and control the current time, though this is certainly not a deal breaker. I would recommend this to a hardcore roadie and a commuter alike.
If you're looking for something to Strava with, this won't be your best choice since it doesn't connect with your phone or computer, but for the everyday cyclist who doesn't need the social gratification of the Strava, I would highly recommend this computer.
