Men's Paddle Tops

For full waterproofing during cold-weather kayaking, whitewater, or canoeing pick a dry top with latex neck and wrist gaskets and fully taped seams—models like the NRS Flux are built for that with tunnel hoods and bombproof shells. Semi-dry tops or paddle jackets work better for touring and SUP where splash resistance and 10,000–20,000mm waterproof ratings and higher breathability are more comfortable.

Neoprene in the 2–4mm range is a sensible choice for chilly water around 40–60°F, offering enough insulation for SUP and kayaking without overly restricting movement. These wetsuit-style tops often use 2–3mm panels in the torso and slightly thicker cuffs or shoulders to balance warmth and paddle mobility.

A snug fit at the latex wrist and neck gaskets is important to keep water out, but they shouldn’t cut off circulation; you should be able to move your wrists and turn your head comfortably. Also check for articulated sleeves and roomy torsos for layering, and consider tall/torso sizing if you need extra length.

Yes — UPF 50+ rash guards and quick-dry poly/spandex shirts block most UV exposure and reduce rubbing with features like anti-chafing flatlock seams found on Vaikobi long-sleeve tops. They’re lightweight and compressive for warm-weather paddleboarding, surfing, and sailing where moisture wicking matters.

For aggressive whitewater, prioritize higher waterproof ratings toward 20,000mm and features like self-bailing designs or roll-top cuffs to shed water fast. Long-distance touring and sea kayaking benefit from more breathable shells (up to about 15,000g/m²/24hr) and comfort-focused details like neoprene overcuffs found on some Kokatat sea-top designs.
