For pool, lake, or ocean use, choose a US Coast Guard-approved PFD with buoyancy in the 15–22 lb range to provide proper flotation. Adjustable straps for chest sizes around 20–30 inches and quick-release buckles on the Lil Legends Foam Vest make fitting and adult supervision easier.

A 1.5mm neoprene spring suit is a good choice for 60-75°F water because it balances flexibility and light insulation. The G Bomb 1.5mm Wetsuit’s thermal lining and stretchy neoprene give a snug, non-restrictive fit that helps reduce water flushing while paddling.

Measure chest and weight against the manufacturer size chart and aim for a snug fit that still allows full arm movement without gaps. For PFDs look for adjustable straps that fit a 20–30 inch chest, and for wetsuits pick stretchy 1.5mm neoprene with a front-zip entry to make on-off easier and limit flushing.

Yes—stable, wide paddleboards and sit-on-top kayaks are ideal for calm lake paddling and early balance training. Inflatable SUPs and kid-friendly kayaks with reinforced PVC or nylon construction offer easy setup for playful beach or pool outings.

Look for reinforced nylon or PVC construction with UV-resistant coatings and glued-and-stitched seams to resist wear and fading from sun and sand. Also check volume and weight ratings—some inflatables support up to 200 lbs for shared family use—and choose non-toxic materials for safer play.
