    Your go-to three-seasons cap.

We would have no problem asserting that the Castelli Viva Thermo Skully is the perfect cool weather cycling cap. The ThermoFlex material that comprises it is warm and soft, stretching easily to accommodate a wide variety of domes, yet it's also especially breathable and never lets you overheat. It's raw-cut edges don't bunch and won't apply pressure points to your head under your helmet, making this light cap something you'll almost forget it's there — until you take it off, of course.

Used many times for what you'd expect -- warmth beneath my bike helmet. Works like a champ, hi vis, and kept the cold/wind at bay in 50 deg temps. I have also used this while snowshoeing in high 30s and it was great. Clearly not intended for casual use/warmth, but when you are active this thing does the trick w/o sweating. My wife "borrowed" mine, indefinitely, so i bought another one for me!

Feel great and warm. Warmer than anticipated. Love it for those overcast cold days. Would love if this hat was also available as a baklava.

      Unbelievably Warm

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

This hat blows me away with how warm it is. I can't believe something so thin can keep my head so warm. I wanted a black one but Competitive Cyclist didn't stock on at the time. Now I'm glad I got white because I think the black may be two warm in the bright sun. My onlt complaint is I wish it covered the bottom of my ears a little better, but I have big head.

      Shockingly warm

Got it because of the reviews here, I think it was on sale, made sense. When I first opened it up out of the package, it seemed a little thin to me. But when I used it, it was perfect. Very warm, very soft, very comfortable, and fits very well under my helmet. I'm in Southern CA, so while it may not get "cold", I still find myself riding at night when it dips into the low 40's, not accounting for any wind chill. My head certainly doesn't get cold while wearing this.

      Great hat

Most hats are too warm for me even down into the 20's I eventually sweat. This hat, especially in the range of 50-35 is perfect. It's largely wind proof, does not inhibit moisture transfer and fits easily under a helmet. Highly recommended.

      Warm and actually covers ears

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have a fairly small head, yet I've always had a hard time finding cycling hats that will cover all of my ear lobes. This hat is both very warm (sort of a fleece-lining) and covers all of my earlobes with a little room to spare.

My only complaint is that it can slip down a bit over my eyebrows and start to cover my eye sockets if I don't have it perfectly positioned.

      Agree with the other reviews!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Surprisingly warm. I have other beanies from LG and PI that are never going to be used again <50degF. I think maybe it is the windstopping component of this one? Found myself actually realizing how warm my head was during my recent ride - who thinks about their beanie while they are riding? I wish they made something like this with a small visor on the front like a cycling cap. (maybe they do?)

      Hot Head

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size

For as thin as this is I was completely surprised with how warm it keeps your head! I ride in some pretty cold weather, 15 F and up, pulls over my ears and keeps me warm!

      My favorite Castelli product

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is the 1 castelli product that has not let me down at all. When I first got it, I took it out of the packaging, felt it and thought- oh great, I just bought something that will now collect dust. Went out for a very cold 3-5* Celsius ride with it on and never once, not at all, was my head cold. It also soaks up the sweat very well. If wearing it around the house, or even after a ride you will feel its warmth and most likely take it off to cool your head. But I actually love this cold weather cover and of all my castelli products, this one is the best- and the cheapest of all my castelli gear. I will certainly buy another one if ever on sale. The nicest thing of this "beanie" is how minimal it is, and yet very elastic to cover the ears and be happy. I am a very particular buyer of gear, and this item honestly surprised me, ultimately leaving me very satisfied.

      Weightless Crown

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This piece is excellent. From Freezing to 55F you can count on the Viva. The material is virtually weightless. I often pair it with the seamless balaclava to keep my head from losing too much heat. Quite breathable, I rarely take this off to find it sweaty... and when I do it is quick to dry. I have washed it 200+ times and it still looks like new. Love the way this little devil keeps the wind off my ears. Snag one of these for sure.

As a bald guy with a small-ish head, this thing fits perfect over my ears, has flat seams, doesn't interfere with my helmet fit, and keeps my noggin toasty and the sweat out of my eyes. I've used it from the low 50s to upper 20s and it works great. One of my favorite pieces of gear - thanks, Castelli!!
