Why We Like The Defenders of Awesome Snowboard

It's sort of like a spaceship and a top-tier all mountain board got blended together. It may seem weird, but when it's Capita's heavily renowned, 7-time winner of the Good Wood award, Defenders of Awesome Snowboard, the space oddity becomes a lot more interesting.

Made to excel on any terrain or feature, the DOA features the latest technologies that poke fun of the phrase "master of none." Its signature Resort V1 profile is ahead of the game, keeping us the center of control for when we're touching down in powder fields and rail gardens. The twin flex gives us the best of both worlds when riding switch or regular, and keeps us afloat in those powder meadows and locking on to steel in the park. When we're ready to scratch our itch for hyperspace, we can rely on the Quantum Drive base and Dual Blaster core for an intense charge without losing control.

Order was the dream of man.

After a month of riding this board it really does live up to all the awards and accolades it has won over the years. First thing I noticed was it’s slightly on the aggressive side. It wants to go and it will send you off jumps. It has more pop than normal. Carving was surprisingly good, not great, but solid for an all mountain board. I’d say it’s on the stiffer side of medium like a 6 out of 10. I was still able to butter on it just fine though. On rails and boxes it performs very well. This is definitely a board that’s slightly more park and jump focused but I still rip it down double blacks no problem. This board is my new daily driver. Buy this board if you’re an intermediate-advanced level rider. It takes some getting used to since it’s aggressive at first but once you tame the beast you will take your riding to the next level.

Park focused all mtn board

If you are used to full camber, this board will feel kind of loose and almost a little catchy. This thing is really designed for park riders that want some all mountain capabilities. It?s got tons of pop for not being a full camber. Carving: this thing is okay. There are better options out there even in all mtn category. It?s not as engaged as a full camber board and you definitely have a little less feedback at the beginning of your turns. Jumps: this was what this board was made for. The pop is incredible for a mid flex hybrid cambered board. Pop is also super easy to access. Jibbing/buttering: I?m not quite that great at jibs. But buttering is pretty easy. It holds your presses really well and popping out of presses feels great. Speed: not the dampest thing and it does feel very chattery if you are hauling. Using moguls as jumps is a better use of this board than straight lining it. Overall: this thing is really meant to hit the park. Capita really nailed it for that and it?s got enough capabilities to get out of the park every once in a while. If you are looking to not hit park or jumps or jibs at all. This would definitely not be the board.

The answer is clear. This board rips everything. Let?s be real. Most of us can?t afford to have a different board for different types of riding. If you want performance all over the mountain from carving to park jumps to powder days with the homies this thing will get you there.

Rode the 154cm DOA as a demo for a week. This board is super fun!! Really poppy and carves like a dream! I would rate it a little stiffer than a 5.5 little hard for my skinny ass to butter on but still fun. Love Capita Boards.
