Workhorse
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
The Cane Creek 40 headset is my go-to for most bike builds. It costs half as much as other headsets and works really well. If you ride in wet, sloppy conditions then you may consider the double-sealed 110 series headset but otherwise this should do the trick!
Reliable
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I just replaced my lower bearing and race on a 3 year old mountain bike. This slid right in and works flawlessly. Immediately removed the creak that I had diagnosed. Cane Creek is currently making some of the best headset components out there.
Keeping things smooth
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Got this as a replacement for the stock one on my Trek that went bad. Spins smooth and has been trouble free. Will fit most integrated tapered steerer tubes.
Unsung Hero of the Bike World
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
The Cane Creek 40 series headset is one of those products that gets little praise, but deserves to be lauded. It costs fraction of a more prestigious headsets, but it rarely fails, and comes in sizes to fit just about any frame. Buy and install it with confidence!
Cane Creek keepin' it real
Great quality, fair price, and discreet styling. Everything I'm after.
Replacement for Ibis Hakkal?gi Disc
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
My Hakkalgi Disc had a few CX seasons under it. In those I was throwing bar-spin no-footed cancan's over the barriers. I need to replace to continue dominance in the 2014-15 season. This popped right in the lower part of the headset and I was back to my Rainier in no time.
I am going to use a fox float 32 taper fork and the frame has IS 52 at the bottom. This part says 30 mm ? I though the bottom of the fork was 1.5 " can someone explain . will this crown press down onto a ( tapered 1-1/8" --1-1/2" fork's steer tube ? thanks
This is for a tapered fork with 1 1/2" lower. This is just the lower bearing and the associated race. Upper bearing sold seperately.
