I really thought based on these reviews that this coat is warm especially considering the cost. It is 35 degrees and I tried it on for the first time and ran out to check the mail. Unfortunately, I will be sending it back. Also, the color looks and states navy and it is purple of some degree.

I’m so happy with this coat. I commute by train and subway, and also do quite a bit of walking to and from train stations. This exposes me to all ranges of temperatures and confined spaces every day. This coat is perfect. The key must be the fit. It’s wonderfully snug, but not at all binding or bulky. It’s like having a second skin. I also bought a very light down vest to wear underneath it on coldest days, but so far with temperatures into the 30’s I have not needed it. I’m sure the longer length also makes a difference. So even though it’s much lighter than most other down coats, I’m not at all worried that I won’t be warm enough later in the season. I’m 5’6” and generally wear a size 4 and bought the small. I’ve worn blazers underneath without a problem. I love the deep pockets and the thumb holes. I also like that I can stuff it into my tote bag rather than having to check it . For city dwellers especially, this is a great coat and investment.

Seriously, so warm and so extremely light! The color is beautiful-not a harsh silver as pictured, but seems to be more of a silver/white(less grey tones more white). The sleeves are long, which is great because I am 5'9 and typically have a difficult time finding such a good fit. The sizing is larger and the fitting is very lovely.

I love love love this coat. The fabric, the light-weightness and warmth was fantastic but overall I was looking for something that was just was a beefy heavy down coat. There are thumb holes and stretch side pannels with out the down baffling that make this coat much more attractive than other brands. The quality and fit was perfect and compared to other brands that I tried on this coat was by far the winner when it came to fit. I would suggest going a size smaller than you normally wear as canada goose sizing runs small. You can wear it as a stand alone piece since but it's so slim and minimal that if I lived in canada & had to sit outside & watch hockey all day I would wear this coat under another coat. - written by my wife liz kuz

First off, the color of the coat on screen does not match the actual color at all. The color on my monitor looks like a bluish-purple and in real life it's a more brownish purple, like a plum color. I was very disappointed. The fabric is also very thin and weirdly shiny. I felt like I could see the inner down too well through the outer fabric. My comment in general is that for a $550 coat, I was definitely not impressed at all. Patagonia coats are better made to me, and they don't cost as much. This is the second time I have received a product from Backcountry that is significantly different in color in real life than it is onscreen. You guys need to hire someone who's better at color correction who can get a little closer in color to the real thing.
