Camp Down Hooded Jacket

When you step out of the plane and head down the jetway, the biting gusts of your winter destination will hardly be noticeable in the Canada Goose Camp Down Hooded Jacket. The windproof face fabric not only blocks the gale, but also provides durable water-resistance against the blowing snow. At mid-thigh length, you'll be covered and protected from the elements.

Explore your destination in comfort with the tricot chin guard that protects your skin as you bury your face into the jacket when the wind is blowing hard at a city overlook point. Throw on the down filled hood for additional warmth and coverage when the sun starts to go down and temps begin to drop, and the Power Stretch cuffs will seal your body heat in. As you make your way through town to find a new delicious dinner spot, unzip the bottom of the two-way zipper for an extended range of motion. After your vacation is over, pack the Camp Down into its interior zipper pocket for a comfortable pillow for your plane ride home.

  • Windproof down jacket for warmth on chilly, blustery evenings
  • 750-fill down provides compressible warmth against the cold
  • DWR treatment beads and repels light moisture from blowing snow
  • Mid-thigh length offers extended coverage to keep out the elements
  • Tricot chin guard adds comfortable when jacket is fully zipped
  • Adjustable down-filled hood adds warmth on biting cold days
  • Power Stretch cuffs seal in body heat and keep cold drafts out

Great Jacket. You will love it!!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Fit:
Runs large

Large

Nice dark green color which is a great change of pace from basic black. Very warm but lightweight. The cuffs on the sleeves are a nice touch. It says slim fit but it is more generous fit than other slim coats I have. I would say it runs large. I ordered a large and it fits exactly like I want with room to layer. The jacket description also says mid thigh length. I’m only 5’4” and it hits me mid thigh. I do have a little trouble with the zipper. It could just be me since the zipper is reversed from what I’m used to. Pockets are not fleece lined which is a perk I normally have in my other down jackets. Overall, I really like the jacket. The sleeve logo patch is very noticeable if that is important to you.

Gorgeous Jacket

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Fit:

Small

I ordered this jacket in red. The color is a gorgeous shade of red. The jacket feels absolutely cozy and warm. I am petite and normally wear a size small (4-6). This jacket runs a little big on me. The sleeves were about 1 1/2 inches too long and the overall length of the jacket was long as well. It came down to mid-thigh on me. Although, to be fair, I am only 5'4" tall. It was a roomy fit. I tried the jacket on over a long sleeved sweater and there was plenty of room for more layers. Also, in the photos online, the cuffs at the end of the sleeves are red but the jacket I received had black cuffs. I would have preferred the all red look but it's not a total deal breaker, given the quality of this jacket. If the jacket wasn't so big on me, I would have kept it.

I decided to order a new winter coat for traveling to New Mexico and Vancouver, BC at the holidays this year. I live in Hawaii so don't wear a winter coat very often. I was interested in this coat as it's light weight for traveling but warm at about 0 degrees. I like the cuffs to keep cold out. Will be able to put in over me when traveling to mainland at night on flights. It's lovely in red! I am 5'7" and an athletic 145 lbs, medium fits perfect. I will be able to wear this jacket over a sweater and still be comfortable in shoulders. I only wish that it was water proof...Vancouver in December.

A follow up comment now that I have worn this jacket daily for 2 weeks. I still love it as I am comfortable and warm but I am a little troubled by the tiny feathers that migrate from the inside of my jacket onto my clothes.

Loves it!

I bought this as a gift for my Aunt who gets ridiculously cold every winter, she loves it! Her words: This jacket is wonderful! I was worried about the length as I am a person under 5 foot four. But the length ended up being great. Love the slimmer profile and not having to walk around as a marshmallow puff. Would highly recommend this coat and the warmth it provides. Satisfied in Salt Lake City!

Nicely cut Canada Goose warmth

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit:
True to size

My wife was looking for a warm down jacket, so we cross-shopped six different ones to find the perfect jacket. On sizing my wife is 5'6" and normally wears a 12-14, and this fit great in an XL. This jacket falls into the warmest tier of down jackets. It is incredibly warm, and the exterior fabric is very water resistant in light rain or wet snow. You're cross shopping this against things like the Arcteryx Ceres and other Canada Goose jackets. This is much warmer than the warmest of North Face puffies. One other nice feature about this jacket is that it is really nicely cut. Many of the Canada Goose jackets look like expedition jackets and take away any semblance of a person's shape. The Camp Down is incredibly warm without making you look like you're coming from a North Pole expedition. The hood is also very warm and very nicely cut. If you're looking at Canada Goose jackets, you'll see some super warm ones with hoods and no shape, and some moderately warm ones that have a more tailored fit and no hood. The Camp Down strikes a nice balance between being super warm and having some attractive shaping to it. Great jacket.

Where does this jacket fall? It says "mid-thigh" but so does the 36" one. They both can't fall there. I'm looking for a longer coat, not a longish jacket. Can someone help?

Hey Kimberley, The Camp Down Hooded Jacket is more mid to upper thigh while the Camp Down Coat (Item # CDG0092) is closer to lower thigh at a 37.5 inch center back length. If you are looking for a longer coat then I would recommend the Camp Down Coat or the Shelburne Down Parka (Item # CDG000U). Feel free to shoot me any additional questions on Canada Goose Jackets directly.

Can wind blow in the front zipper or is it windproof? I have a north face now with the same type of small inside flap behind the zipper and the I freeze when the wind is blowing.

which is warmer, this or the Patagonia Fiona down parka? And by how much? Thanks!

This one is going to be warmer! This jacket has 750 fill down, the Fiona parka has 600 fill... Insulating power on this one is going to be a little stronger.

Is the arctic dusk more blue or purple?

Hey ZK, I would describe the Arctic Dusk as purple. If you have any more questions about this jacket or any other gear, please give me a call at 1-800-409-4502 ext 4446 or email at gconner@backcountry.com.

It's brownish purple like a plum color. It is not as reflected on screen.

are the down compartments baffled?

are the down compartments baffled?

Yes they are, and the baffles are narrower than many on the market. That means less chance of the down settling and opening up cold spots. Canada Goose parkas are, arguably, the best made parkas on the market

Is this the only brand of down jacket here...

Is this the only brand of down jacket here that is made in Canada or the U.S.?

No. There are quite a few actually. Feathered Friends makes all their jackets in the United States, and Westcomb makes all their stuff in Vancouver, Canada. Those are two, but there are actually quite a lot.
