Crampon Spike Protector

You rely on your CAMP USA crampons to chew through ice and packed snow, so before you put them in your pack, put the Universal 12 Point Protectors on them to prevent them from doing the same to your gear. Each point protector is connected via a center rubber band which makes attachment, removal, and transport a cinch.

How Does Anyone Go Without These?

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I have a set of these for each of my five pairs of crampons (2 Petzel, 3 Grivel) and love them. Honestly, I don't know why/how anyone would go without them. With these on, I have zero worries about punctures when tightly packing my crampons in their cases with gaiters and/or straight in my pack.

Don't believe the product photo

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

I have the green 12-point CAMP crampons shown in the product photo for these spike protectors, and there is no way the protectors I received will fit. If you twist them around trying to make them fit, they pop right off because the slots in the rubber are 90 degrees off the correct angle, and the straps between are either too long or too short. These protectors look like they're designed for steel ice climbing 'pons only, and not the aluminum ski touring models. Maybe the protectors I received was mis-bagged at the factory, who knows. Not really worth returning, since the return shipping will cost me $7...grrrr.

Exactly what I'm looking for.

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These fit perfectly on my G12's in case anyone was wondering how "universal" these are. They aren't too heavy, but super durable feeling. I haven't taken these into the wild yet, but I'll definitely feel better about packing my crampons behind fragile materials.
