Standard construction site hard hat turned climbing helmet. I measured my head circumference, it fell within the range of this helmet at about 22.5-23.0 inches. The first issue is the headband adjusts awkwardly, though it's not much of an issue and seems adequately durable. Second issue is the helmet feels small even though my measurements are within range. Third, the foam pad on top of the helmet to protect your dome from rubbing is inadequate. I shave my head though, and it rubs on top and is really annoying, which brings me too... Fourth, I don't think I'd be able to wear even the thinnest barrier/hat/balaclava underneath this helmet due to it's being small. All things considered, pretty basic basic helmet. If you have a smaller head for the measurement range, have hair, and don't plan on wearing anything bulky underneath it, it will probably be a good helmet for you.

Keeping my belayer safe in Maple

I now have a nice Mammut helmet, but if your belayer doesn't have a helmet how safe are you really? This is a great spare since it is one size fits all.

Good protection at a great price

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Good protection and it is comfortable. I just wish it had slightly larger vents. The head band adjustment was kind of weird at first but it does what it is supposed to do.

A great helmet for getting the job done!

I've put it through the wringer

I was drawn to this helmet for its price and practicality. After two years of use, I've been very satisfied with the helmet. It's not the most fashionable or comfortable helmet, but it suits basic safety needs. Since I climb sport and trad frequently I will eventually upgrade to a more comfortable helmet, but until then the Rock Star will do just fine! Even when I do replace it, I plan to keep the helmet around as a spare to let my friends borrow it. As Komen noted, it would not be an ideal helmet to protect a lead fall, but will provide significant protection in the case of rock fall. For this reason it would be a perfect helmet for novice climbers who are mainly climbing on a top rope.

I thought I would like it

I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I wanted to buy a helmet that was a hard-hat style helmet simply for durability. I wasn't expecting outstanding comfort, but this was too much. The top of the helmet was not padded well and would push down onto the top of my head - it was quite uncomfortable and would probably be extremely painful if something ever hit the helmet. I ended up going with the Edelrid ultralight helmet, which has suspension in the helmet to keep your head away from the hard-hat shell.

CAMP USA Rock Star Helmet

Quite spartan. This one is me. Ruggedly elegant in a way that won't soon go out of style. I hope it's as tough as it looks.

Great Helmet!

This is a great helmet for beginners and advanced climbers and canyoneerers! It is low costing and fully adjustable to fit all head sizes. you can even put a headlamp on it for caving or climbing and canyoneering in the dark. Even if you don't wear this helmet, it is a good one to have in your gear closet for when you bring someone new on your adventures and they need a helmet.

My hat size is 7-3/8 inches. Will this fit?

Hey Axel, Yes this will fit you. That hat size translates to around 23" and this helmet fits 20.5"-23.5". It is adjustable as well to make it a snug fit on your noggin.

Does the one you stock have the headlamp...

Does the one you stock have the headlamp attachment?

Hey, I actually took a look at this a few hours ago. Everything we have up currently is still based of the older model but what we have is the 2013 that has the headlamp attachment. I have already got somebody working on getting this all updated.
