Save your energy and get yourself one of these, they feed so easy. ATC style guide devices are for the birds.

Out of sight, out of mind.

I've used this item in the gym over the past few weeks to decide if its something worth leaving on my harness as a backup device. Bottom line, its more streamlined than a standard ATC and nearly as light, the oversized slots make for easy guide mode belays, and best of all the price doesn't break the bank. Whether for bringing up a second, or simply to have as a backup device, this piece is a must!

Great for guide style belay

This plate is great for setting up a guide belay. Pulling rope through is super easy and it is easy to set up. In guide mode the thing to watch out for is inversion of the rope strands when using only one rope. The instructions demonstrate how this is avoided. For lead belay this device feels a little lacking in friction. Holding body weight with it allows rope to slip slowly through. I haven't caught a lead fall on mine, nor would I want to. Rappelling works fine. Just use a prussic like you're supposed to. In summary, great for guide mode, and a little low friction for everything else. This is the second device to bring in multi pitch. I use a megajul and the ovo. Both super light with complementary abilities. And at the price here, it never hurts to have a backup device.
