Crux Thermal Control Kit

Whether you're snowshoeing along Salt Lake's towering Wasatch Range or trail running through Madison's forested arboretum on a frigid winter evening, the Crux Thermal Control Kit prevents your CamelBak Crux Reservoir drinking tube from freezing solid. This kit contains everything you need to transform your Crux Hydration Reservoir into a winter-ready drinking solution that's ideal for the avid hiker, trail runner, and snowshoe enthusiast.

The Crux Thermal Control Kit comes with an insulated Crux tube and Big Bite valve with insulated cover, as well as a Quick Link connector and Cruz on/off valve for leak-free operation. It uses CamelBak's Hydroguard technology to prevent the growth of funky bacteria, which is common when you're using this hydration tube on a regular basis or you forget to hang it dry after a long hike.

Just used this during the recent winter storm in Chicagoland area this morning. With freezing snow/ice coming from every direction. It was coated in snow/ice and the my hydration was flowing with no issues at a nice cold temperature.

Fine enough insulated hose. However,

Fine enough insulated hose. However, I messed up and bought this when I should have ordered the Mil Spec Crux insulated tube which is longer and has a quick disconnect at the end, and is smaller in diameter which better fits the magnetic tube trap clip on my pack.

Must Upgrade for Skiing

I highly recommend upgrading to this tube if you are a skier/snowboarder. My tube kept freezing and I'd be carrying around extra water that I couldn't drink. The bite valve is a simpler design and does not have the 90degree turn which is why I think this tube works so well in colder weather. I still had to blow water out of the tube with every use and it did freeze on a -9 day but at that temp you cant expect much. A must have if you love exploring cold mountains.

Good Choice for Frequent Skiing

I work as a ski instructor at local ski hill. I've been using the Camelbak Bootlegger pack 4 days a week for a couple of seasons. Occasionally, on really cold days, water may freeze in the bite valve, but haven't had a problem with getting it flowing again. Water has never frozen in insulated tube. Good product!

Better than they gray insulated tube for sure but...

Does a GREAT job of keeping water inside the tube from freezing while skiing this winter. Much better than the gray insulated tube but…water still freezes in the bite valve even under the cover. The cover also forces the bite vale too close to the end of the tube leaving just a small portion of the bite vale to actually be…bitable.

This is the reason topurchase

This is the reason topurchase the Crux bladder. Keeps water unfrozen to around 10 degrees and the nipple guard keeps it clean

Great for winter activties

Bought this for snowboarding in the winter. Last season my regular tube froze and I couldn't stay as hydrated as well as I would've liked. Insulation material wraps snug around the tube and it was a simple swap for install. Spout cover is durable rubber. Keep in mind that you won't be able to use a magnetic trap with this anymore.

works great

Works great--tube is just longer than I would like, so it hangs down and is hard to secure to a trail running pack. I haven't taken it out in any super cold temperatures, but it works great in 20s weather. Attaches to my Hydrapak and Camelbak bladders easily.
