Who's afraid of the big, bad wall?

Butora built the Wide Fit Altura Climbing Shoe for long days on big walls where you'll come across every style of climbing except maybe overhanging pitches. Its low asymmetry and flat profile assure comfort when you're jamming, smearing, and edging all day. The upper boasts a hydrovelour split leather that stretches to conform to your foot shape, while the odor-resistant organic hemp lining reduces stretching so you don't have a baggy pair of boots by the time your reach the summit.
Just like any crack climbing shoe, the Altura has a padded tongue and mesh lining to protect your forefoot from jagged rocks inside the crack. The moisture-wicking split-leather footbed feels particularly wonderful in warmer weather, and the midsole offers moderate stiffness so you can edge, smear, and slab up tricky sections with supportive stability. The butyl Butora rubber sole has a sharp edge for the occasional face move, and its soft enough for you to get enough contact on slabs.

    Great shoe

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got these while my TC Pros we’re getting resouled and really enjoy them. They are stiffer than the TC’s which are great for edging and takes less pressure off my feet.

    Exactly what I needed

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've been looking for the ideal all-day trad shoe and might have struck gold with these Butoras. The wide option fits my foot perfectly - no hot spots or toe cramps after a few days of climbing. I wanted a shoe that I could comfortably wear while multi-pitch climbing all day, and these are about as close as you can get in my experience. The shoe is rather stiff, which actually helps a great deal when putting in gear while balancing on tiny crystals. My legs were noticeably less fatigued after a long day of climbing. The only caveat I have is that there is less tactile feedback in the toes because of the thick rubber, but that's a necessary compromise for everything else these shoes have to offer. It took some getting used to trusting my feet, but the rubber is bomber. As always, I recommend trying a few different shoes out as everyone's feet and climbing style are a bit different, but these are perfect for me. Highly recommended.

    Glad to have one

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I was wearing La Sportiva TC pro for more tha 2 years. Loved it. But star to think Some alternatives for multi pitch climbing. Found this Butora Altura. It was little hard at the beginning as a brand new shoes does, but from the 3-4th days, became very comfortable. It is a great climbing shoes as TC pro. Highly recommend.

    Doesn't fit like low-top Butoras

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I have a pair of Butora's Endeavor low-top velcro shoes and love how they fit. The Alturas fit very differently, though. The wide fit is not as wide and heel cup rides high.

    Finally a wider trad shoe

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 11
    • Height: 6'3"
    • Weight: 200lbs

I got these shoes specifically for the granite climbing of the Sierras and out of the box felt as though they were made for my feet. The tall ankle was a little stiff due to it's height and material but broke in perfectly after about 6-8 pitches as it molded to my feet. I've climbed dozens of pitches in these boots now and can safely say that they perfectly molded to my feet without stretching. I tried true to street size and half size up and stuck with the half size up as my feet tend to swell on longer climbs and I wanted to ability to put a thin pair of socks on in the colder months.

I've now used them on the sandstone at Red Rocks and crack climbed on the tuft at Smith Rocks and they perform excellently. I can securely edge on face moves and they excel in anything fingers or larger. Thanks Butora for making a well crafted product that hold up to the abuse this heavy climber puts on shoes.
