    Channel aggression into riding precision.

From fifty footers in the park to no-fall AK lines, the Burton Men's Ion Snowboard Boot provides the aggressive flex and uncompromising support demanded by the world's best riders, including Danny Davis and Mark McMorris. Instead of being a single-minded specialist like Burton's freeride-specific Driver X, the Ion lends itself to all-terrain mastery with its responsive, low-profile feel that charges everything from gigantic park hits to stacked pillows in the backcountry.

New for this season, Outer Shell Pressure Relief Panels place soft gel cushioning where your bindings cinch down to alleviate pressure points and hot spots. The liner has been overhauled as well, ditching the previous Infinite Ride 4 liner for a newly designed Life liner. This liner is highly resistant to breakdown without it feeling flimsy or compromising support after multiple seasons of hard riding. It offers the customizable fit and responsive feel you've come to expect from top-tier boots, upgraded with DryRide Heat Cycle lining for thermally-activated warmth in frigid conditions. An Aegis antimicrobial finish prevents funky odors from building up after long days on the mountain.

    Finally they got it right

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Skiing since the late 70's and snowboarding since 1990 all over NA, SA and EU, worn who knows how many boots of all kinds. Just got back from a week at Whistler and these boots were unnoticed. Yes, unnoticed; which to me is the best rating boots can get. This means they were warm, comfy, easy to get on and off, and walk in. We all know so many boots that do not manage to do a couple of these things, let alone all. Where were these boots when I was putting on 100 days a year?!?!

The best part, there is a little pull tab on the lower laces to help you get the boot ready to take off. It is this kind of attention to detail I love from Burton.

Thanks to Jason Setser at Backcountry for his help!

    Awesome boots

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I previously owned a pair of Ions that lasted nearly 11 years. I purchased this year's Ion pre-season and have ridden them six or seven times now. These boots are light and very responsive and show the same durable construction.

The toe boxes on these boots are made out of hard plastic (not mentioned in the description). So far, I really like having the extra protection. It also provides some extra room for my toes making the boots really comfortable. The only downside is that it can be difficult do dial in the toe strap on my back foot since I can't feel the strap as well as I would in a different boot. I tend to need to ratchet down slightly more than normal.

The liners have material jutting out to help reduce heel slipage (maybe the ESS Support Shank mentioned above). My heels don't move while I'm riding, ever. However, this makes the boots slightly uncomfortable when not active. I think the discomfort will decrease as the boots wear in.

I absolutely love the speed zone laces. I think they're more precise than the boa system and I'll never own boots with standard laces again.

Lastly, the fact that the boots are so slimmed down can't be understated. I rode a pair of DC's for once season that were so big I had to size up on the bindings. That will never happen with the Ion.

    The Premium Snowboard Boot Option

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The Burton Ion is essentially the most advanced board boot on the market. It is designed for the aggressive rider who knows what he wants and is not willing to compromise.

I have had five or six pairs over the years. At times I switch to a different brand, and always regret the swap. This boot is extremely lightweight and it is stiff. Burtons have “Shrinkage” technology, which make them the lowest profile board boots on the market. The Ion is the ultimate version of this. You can count on it reducing your toe and heel drag one to two inches compared to other brands. This is crucial for riders who wear a size 11+ shoe.

I am very thankful that the shell this year has a fully plastic rapped toe cap, which makes it the most durable model to date. I have always destroyed the toes of my back foot boot from resting the edge of my board on it during chairlift rides. This is no longer a problem and after thirty days of riding, the boot is still good as new!

The new Life Liner released this season is phenomenal. The moisture wicking material is so comfortable. This liner has tons of ventilation and is designed to breathe like no other. I have never experienced such dry comfort in a boot. This feature is essential for me, as I hike side country and do a lot of splitboarding.
The Ion is also far more comfortable than any other boot there is. Take my word for it and slip your foot into this mastery of snowboard boot technology.

If you have any questions on the Burton Ion or any other snowboard boot, please contact me and I would be happy to help you.

Everything you want in a boot

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I started riding the Burton Ion 8 years ago and fell in love with them then. Since then I have tried other boots such as the 32 Team II, the Nike Kazu and a few others, but no boot compares. This boot has amazing heal hold, unparalleled lacing system and provides great support. From charging the mountain , hiking back country lines to riding the park, these are my go to's.
