Avalon Bib Pant

Allow the Burton Avalon Bib Pant to be your ethereal island of dryness in the middle of a deep powder day, and soggy pants will never send you home early again. Like its mythical namesake, the Avalon provides a place of refuge as you surf through bottomless white stuff, with a full bib to stop snow from sneaking its way into your layers.

Burton constructed the entire pant out of its 2-layer Dryride fabric so moisture won't soak through when you're earning free refills on a storm day, lining it with soft, stretchy taffeta to wick moisture with a little help from inner thigh vents. Fleece-lined hand pockets keep your fingers warm when you're waiting for your friends to show up, and a chest pocket provides easy access to essentials you want to keep close. Adjust the bib straps to get the right fit, and use the drop seat construction to get back outside faster during a quick midday nature call. Best of all, Burton nailed the relaxed fit of the Avalon, so you can enjoy riding in a pant that fits like a trendy pair of baggy overalls but still moves with you on the mountain.

  • Stylish, functional shell bib pant ready for deep turns
  • 2-layer fabric is waterproof and breathable for reliable dryness
  • Full-coverage bib with drop-seat construction makes pit stops easy
  • Multiple pockets lend a secure place for on-mountain essentials
  • Mesh-lined thigh vents allow for easy temperature regulation
  • Regular fit provides unrestricted motion
  • Item #BUR02R3

Ordered a size small because XS pants are too small for me with this brand. Extremely loose at the waist area but tight at the legs. I ended up keeping them anyway and snowboarded in them. The left side constantly unzipped and unbuckled when I would get up from strapping in.

Burton always makes nice items that are of good quality. Love the color. Unfortunately a lot of their clothing seems to not fit girls with a curvy or athletic build. This item is no exception. I have a small waist and big butt/thighs from weightlifting. Ordered the large based on reviews and these were a little snug on my legs/butt (Size wise, my thighs are about 25 in around and I could maybeeee wear a pair of leggings underneath), and they insanely gaped around my waist (my waist is about 26in). The slightest fall I'm going to get a ton of snow down my back. I didn't put these to use due to the sizing, but I felt the zipper up the side stayed in place as I moved around in them, and didn't have any trouble with the buckles. Bummer about the fit.

After reading some reviews I was worried about size, so after going off the measurements they provided I initially bought an XL because I thought the Large would be too tight. When I got the XL I was practically swimming in it, it was super long and baggy. I returned it and got a large and it fits me perfectly. There's enough room for me to wear an underlayer and my knee pads and wide enough at the bottom for my boots. I like the feature where you can unzip the sides so you can go to the bathroom and don't have to take the whole thing off. Haven't tested it out too many times but so far I love it!

I find this a lot with burton clothing, but its not made for an athletic build (weird right?). I have athletic thighs and a bit of a bum and the medium was tight on the thighs (I wear a 6 normally). I think it would be fine for a skier but as a snowboarder I think we bend more and it just wasn't comfy. Also they seem to think a medium means you've got a belly, and there was just a lot of excess fabric bunched around the midsection and into the crotch which would have felt weird, maybe if I was taller or they fell properly on the legs it would have pulled it taught? Who knows, either way I felt uncomfortable in them. Also the velcro pockets on the back would suck if you had to sit in the snow and adjust something or just go through some decent powder (velcro makes snow clumps) and the front pockets were open/not zipped so things could fall out in the front. And the pockets are lined with some sort of faux fleece which, because they are just open pockets, when they get snow in them you'll get icey clumps... Not a lot of product thought IMO. The colour was great (dress blue) and they were warm, I spent 10 minutes in my 23 degree garage and was adjusting them to see how the fit was and I got adequately warm. So if you're thin and tall and dont fall/sit down then these might be ideal but for average/athletic women I'd say steer clear.

Nice but be wary....

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Fit:
Runs small

As many others have stated they do run small overall, but also run long in the legs. The sizing is definitely weird. To avoid the snaps coming undone and zippers falling down size up. Also, they are not very water resistant. A good coat of water repellent helps. My main issue is with the material itself. We stopped after a day on the slopes to grab a bite and a pint last month. Thanks to Covid we are all having to sit outside and while I was standing over a foot away from a heater my boyfriend noticed my pants melted onto my boot. Thankfully I was wearing boots and the pants did not melt to my skin, as when the material melts it turns into molten plastic. I know we should all be wary of getting too close to heat in snow gear, but a foot away? The heat was no more than what would would be experienced in the dryer, and the care tags state you should put these in the dryer. So buyer beware when warming up at the end of the day.

Nice bibs but way too small for referenced size. I were size 6 jeans and have had to order size 10 but now they’re too tall and the bibs cover my chin. The only good thing I have to say is that Backcountry took BOTH pairs back and refunded me my money.

Just got the copper pair in and tried them on! They look beautiful and fit great! I'm 5'4, about 135lbs, and I got the Medium. They are a bit long but only by an inch or two. There is plenty of room for my base layers!

Love these Bibs! Great quality and comfort! Love the pockets and ease of access; except they run small!!! I had to exchange mine for a larger size. I’m 5’9” / 140 lbs and often run small -medium depending on the item. Snow pants I’m usually a medium, as I like to have room to move. I ordered the Medium and found they didn’t give any wiggle room at all! All I tried on under them were a tight pair of leggings and a long sleeve shirt, and they didn’t allow for a lot of movement; when I bent down, squatted or sat down, the buttons in the rear popped open, and the pants were tight and uncomfortable in the thigh and hip area when doing so. I knew immediately, when I’m on the slopes, I’d be extremely disappointed and irritated; so I exchanged for a size large to allow myself room for movement and breathability.

I blew out my knee on the mountain 6 years ago and now have to wear an orthopedic brace when skiing. I have been wearing mens ski pants since, trouble getting women's pants over the brace. These went over the brace, but it was super tight and even though I loved the look and all the features they were just too tight for comfort.

these are so cute but just did not work for my body type-- writing in case other gals my size are also wondering if they'll work for them! I am 5'2", slim, with athletic legs and bought an XS after other reviews mentioned how long these run. Unfortunately these still went well beyond my feet past an amount adjustable by the top straps or reasonable to tailor. I found that there was ample room in the top for layering but the legs were so fitted around my thighs that it would have been too restricting for this easily-cold girlie to ski all day with a pair of leggings underneath. Wish they worked, back to the drawing board.

Last winter I ordered these bibs because I was sick of wearing a belt and always pulling my pants up! Overall, they are awesome! But not perfect. I’ve worn them sledding with my kids, snowboarding, and XC skiing. I ordered both L and XL to figure out size. The length was better for me in the large but they were slightly tight. I worried I would have a hard time bending over for my bindings. The large probably would have worked, but I kept the XL so they wouldn’t be tight. The XL is a little more roomy than I would normally wear. Because I went with the larger size, they are a little too long. I step on the back of my heels when playing in the snow with my kids. My biggest complaint is the snaps that keep the butt flap up. Whenever I would bend over, they would unsnap. If I didn’t immediately snap them back up, the zippers would start to unzip and pretty soon, my butt flap was hanging wide open. After this happened multiple times, I decided to rig it with Velcro. By adding Velcro, they now stay in place and I don’t have this problem. So it was an easy fix. But it was super annoying to have to rig them when I paid so much for the bibs. Overall, I’ve liked the switch to wearing bibs instead of pants. But they are no™t perfect. For the price, I would have liked the snaps to stay in place.

I really loved everything about these pants, they were almost perfect, the flex and all made them super comfy. The only problem is the falling down strap. I know this would drive me crazy when I am out riding and I just had to return them. If your okay with the bib straps constantly falling down your arm then you will be okay, but I couldn't.

I love love love these bibs. I got the Olive colored ones and the print on the straps are just so cute. I love the way the back unzips for easy access in the restroom. On my ride days I usually just wear these when I leave the house until I get home. Had no problems with bunching in the back either. Prefect for long legs.

I really wanted to love these ski pants, but in all honesty they are not built for girls with curves. Overall they have some cool technical features and seem to be made from quality material. They are pretty fitted through the butt and hip. Every time I bent over in them the buttons would unsnap. Will be returning these and continuing the search.

I got tired of pulling my Burton pants up all the time so this year I decided to try bibs and I was very happy with them. They were roomy enough for me to wear a sweatshirt underneath and I had no worries about getting snow down the back because I always have my jacket on. They are long but once my boots were on, it was fine. My only complaint is that the buckle to shorten the straps is not very good and didn't stay in the place where I wanted. I read other reviews complaining about the zippers coming undone but I never had this problem. I would buy them again!

The teal color is great, the material was nice, but the fit... ugh. My biggest problem was the elastic gathering in the back, it was baggy, a perfect gap for snow to fall through. And, although not the deal breaker, the pockets are lined nicely with fleece but they are open pockets, no zippers, a snow collector. They wouldn't be my go to pants when hitting the slopes and for the price they need to be.

Got the Avalon bib in small, I am 5’1” and weigh 126 I have a small waist and I have athletic thighs, not too big but you can tell I don’t skip leg day😂 seriously though my body is proportional The bibs are awesome, great material but for me the crotch hung too low and the waist to chest area bunches up, even after I adjusted the straps. I feel like this style is made for a long torso girl with thinner not so athletic thighs. These were snug on my thighs, big on the waist area and crotch hung too low, and they were EXTRA EXTRA long in the length although they do have the strap so you can bunch the hem up and not drag them, but definitely longer than any other Burton pants I own. Wish they would have worked out.

Hey Elizabeth, that would be Burton's midweight Crew Baselayer item #BURZ8EO . They also offer a long neck option #BURZ8EP. Just plug those item #'s into the search bar and they will pull up.
