Bake until warm.

When 5:00 p.m. hits on a day when the snow's been falling since noon, escape work, grab your board, and head up to do a little night pow riding with your hands tucked into the Burton AK Oven Mitten. Night riding is never warm, but with the AK Oven's winning combination of Gore Windstopper, leather, down, and Primaloft Gold insulation, you'll be covered by all of the toughest materials in the game. Even if you're out all night, your hands will have a hard time getting cold in this doting mitt.

Burton starts off with Gore Windstopper fabric on the back of the hand, using it to provide a breathable shield against wind and snow that keeps you warm while warding off clamminess. Rugged Gnar Guard leather on the palm is durable enough to withstand wear-and-tear from carrying your board and scrambling up rocky faces, and the thumb and sidewall have Screen Grab technology so you can use your smartphone without exposing your bare skin to the cold. Plush goose down adds extra insulation to the back of the hand, and low-profile Primaloft Gold insulation on the palm side insulates without compromising dexterity.

  • Forget about numb fingers when you night ride
  • Carefully tailored fit won't slow you down
  • Windproof, waterproof shell shields against snow and wind
  • Down and synthetic insulation add breathable warmth
  • Leather palm adds durable dexterity and grip

Love these mitts

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Fit:
True to size
Size Bought
S
Height
5` 9"
Weight
175 lbs

Somehow I have more dexterity in these than I do in Mitts that are barely half as warm. They fit so well are super warm but my hands don’t feel sweaty and I can do my bindings or control my GoPro with ease

Just as described

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I had these for a three day trip to Mt. Schweitzer in Idaho. The weather was 12-15 the entire weekend. The only time I got a cold thumb was when I was teaching a few beginners in our group, standing around and the long chair ride got a bit cold but once I was able to start moving and skiing I never noticed having a cold thumb again. These are very warm and very comfortable. You would never believe it due to how light and flexible they are. I get cold hands easily but these made it difficult for that to happen. All Burton AK stuff is high quality and these do not disappoint.

Fit is good, warmth is great

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Pretty much sums it up, they fit well (got her a small) and are very warm and still have decent dexterity (as much as you can in a mitten)

My favorite mittens ever!!!

These are my favorite mittens ever!!! They are so nice and cozy. If my hands get too warm I just let them hang. They’ve become my everyday go to

Bring the gauntlet back!!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I'm on my 3rd pair of these, but I really miss the old gauntlet style.

I agree completely. I'm also on my third pair and miss the "over mitt" gauntlet style.

Yes!!!!!! A thousand percent!!!!

AK OVEN!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I bought these as a gift for my sister, who gets the worst of cold hands(Reynaud's). She hasn't been able to find anything that keeps her hands warm enough without being huge or overly bulky. She lives in CO and rides regularly, and has reported that these gloves are very warm and fully functional with the phone. Nose wipe is also a +. I also have AK oven mitts with the split finger, and love them, my hands sweat even without glove liners. Very waterproof and windproof as well. Burton AK for the win!

Soft, comfy and warm mitten. They have unique partial finger partitions which keep hands comfortable.

Gloves on the inside

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

These were like gloves on the inside. Individual places for your fingers. I was looking for warm mittens. They did seem really warm, but a bit bulky. Not what I was expceting.

Another Awesome AK Piece

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Being a big fan of mitts in general, I'm always looking for a new and different pair. I needed a warmer set for those cold days and decided on the Oven Mitts. I like the feel of the leather palms and having an option to use either the zipper or velcro closure is nice. Having owned many AK pieces I expected these to perform well and they did not disappoint. Any time the temps get below ~20 I grab this pair and go.

This is an Awesome mit!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Like the description says above, this is your night skiing mit. I also like it for your average cold day, as in <20 degrees F. It always keeps my hands really warm, but I would not compare it to the expedition weight down mitts. I think when it comes to sub zero temps you will want something even warmer than the AK Oven Mitt. This mitt is surprisingly low-bulk and is crazy comfortable. I find the dexterity to be awesome for a mitten. The wrist can be adjusted with both a velcro closure and zipper expander. Having both options on your wrist is unique and is so user friendly. The comfortable and stretchy dummy strap is a must. Not to mention, slipping your hands into these things is heaven. When I got these mittens, I thought that they would be reserved for only the most fridget days, but I find them to be a little more versatile and use any excuse I can to put them on. I highly recommend the Burton AK Oven Mitt. If you have questions about this mitt or any other, please contact me at lmorris@backcountry.com and I would be happy to help you.
