    Ready for any adventure.

If you're in the market for a pack that can take on a night at the backcountry yurt just as easily as a light day hike on the trail, consider picking up the Burton AK Incline 40L Backpack. Made from a tough and durable nylon ripstop, the Incline includes a large central stow area for extra layers, food, and basic gear, plus it has a specially designed compartment for your avy tools, so if an emergency strikes, you have immediate access to your kit.

The Trampoline back panel keeps your back area ventilated so it won't saturate with sweat and sap hard-earned body heat. Diagonal and vertical ski and board carrying let you strap up your planks for steeper ascents, and a built-in helmet carry allows you to bring the protection along without soaking it with perspiration while traveling to your objective. Combine external cinch straps and tons of zippered stash spots with the bells and whistles mentioned above, and you've got a well-rounded backcountry pack that's ready to step (or skin) toward any challenge.

    It Could Be Better

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I like how spacious and easy to access gear through the side access pocket was during a back country trip to Tuckerman's Ravine, I was very unhappy with the board straps. They hold my board too low so it hits the back of my legs. It also doesn't hold an ice axe well and there is no pocket for my skins which is inconvenient. Overall I would not recommend this pack to someone else.

    Not quite right...

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

While this pack is pretty comfortable, it really misses the mark. First off, getting a hydration bladder in the holder is difficult due to the curve of the back of the pack, and gets frustrating fast. The packs spec is 40 liters, but due to the curve of the back, it feels tight, small, and is hard to access your gear. This is a pack for skiing, and as such, the buckles should be a lot bigger for use with gloves/mittens. I had trouble with the tiny buckles even with just liner gloves on. I don't recommend buying this pack unless you can try it in person, get a killer deal, and don't mind its many shortcomings.
