Plush and pop.

When Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers while powering to a new PR, he was wearing his plush-yet- poppy Brooks Men's Glycerin 16 Running Shoes. Built for moderate-to-long distance road runs, these shoes might just be Brooks' most comfortable trainers to date. The main difference between the Glycerin 16 and previous models is the new DNA Loft midsole, designed to maximize comfort and cushioning without sacrificing responsiveness. The result is a soft, smooth ride that still packs plenty of pop while keeping things light for such a cushioned shoe. Brooks' Ideal Pressure Zone technology adds to its smooth ride, working to distribute pressure evenly around your foot, ensuring that one or two spots won't take all the force during hard training miles. Adding to the Glycerin' 16's comfort are the breathable 3D Fit Print mesh upper and internal stretch bootie, which expand and stretch with your foot as you move through your stride.

  • Give yourself a smooth ride with this cushioned trainer
  • New DNA Loft midsole delivers cushioning with plenty of pop
  • 3D Fit Print upper and internal booty expand with your movements
  • Double jacquard mesh offers breathability for long summer runs
  • Outsole evenly distributes impact pressure throughout the foot

Game changer for me

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I didn't get a new pair of running shoes for too many years. I must say that these shoes have helped my shin splints while I have been training for a half marathon. My old shoes i could barely run 2 times a week with out being in ridiculous amounts of pain. These should have allowed me to run 4 times a week and have been a god send.

Good for road runs

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I ran in ASICS Nimbus for years but had to find something different when they made it a much firmer shoe. Since then, I’ve run in the Mizuno Wave Sky, the Saucony Triumph, and now the Brooks Glycerine. I’ve never run in a Brooks shoe before but these seem to match expectations. The Glycerine is a softer ride than the Nimbus but, I think, the heaviest of all of these. I’d be ok with the added weight but they’re not as soft as the Wave Sky and are stiffer than both that shoe and the Triumph. I’d say the Glycerine is probably worth a try but it looks like I’m sticking with the Saucony Triumph for now. It’s lighter, allows freer movement, and feels a little softer (or maybe I just focus more on a front foot strike since I know it has less heel padding).
