    The Alternative Is Here.

If you've been pining and hoping that the designers at Brooks would debut a low-drop alternative to the Cascadia, consider your dreams answered with the Men's Caldera Trail Running Shoe. As the newest edition to the trail family, the Caldera has an even-keeled construction for stability, support, and fatigue-fighting performance that keeps you coming back mile after mile.

The Caldera features a double mesh upper that provides protection from grime and obstacles and stretches with your foot to assures a seamless, pressure-free fit and feel. The arch support is designed as such that it caters to a wide variety of arch types (flat, medium, and high), while the neutral support ensures that the Caldera works well with over and under pronators alike. However, that's not to say that the Caldera doesn't offer a stable feel underfoot—it's fashioned with Brooks' Universal Platform, so it allows you to maintain a steady stride in unpredictable terrain. Meanwhile, the BioMoGo DNA midsole has built-in protection, attenuates shock, fights fatigue, and promotes smooth heel-to-toe transitions. The integrated gaiter tab allows you to attach your choice in gaiters to the shoe to protection from dust, clingy grass, or biting bugs.

    • A low-drop trail shoe for high-mileage runs
    • Breathable mesh upper stretches with your foot
    • Neutral support for over and under pronators
    • Universal Platform ensures that you maintain a steady stride
    • BioMoGo DNA midsole attenuates shock and fights fatigue
    • Integrated gaiter table allows you to customize protection
    • Rugged outsole assures traction in wet and varied terrain

    Update after hundreds of miles

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've worn these shoes for a few hundred miles and recently finished an ultramarathon in them. I had planned to switch these shoes out when I got to my drop bag but they just felt too good! I couldn't risk it, so I kept rolling in these! The lugs are not very aggressive, but for hard dirt and rocky surfaces, I don't think you can beat these. Get them.

    I love these!

These are awesome shoes!!! I was in Altra's before but they were giving me some foot pain. They minimal drop and wide toe box are awesome. They are a great shoe for someone looking to run both trails and a little road.

    Energize over Supersize

This summer I decided I needed to get into trail running since it is so much faster than hiking. I decided I needed a shoe with some cushion (I'm not Olympian thin) but still had good traction and was responsive. So far I have been very impressed, the shoe is comfortable on the up and maintains control on the way down. I have yet to feel like my foot was sliding around inside. The weight seems about right.
I would agree it fits slightly on the larger side. In road shoes I am a 12 (Asics/Hoka) as well as casual (nike/adidas/vans). I went with an 11.5 here. The 12 fit, but felt like there may have been just enough room to get sloppy. I tried on the 11.5 and it was just right. Enough room to prevent my toes from jamming on the way down, but tight enough I wasn't going to be tripping over obstacles as I lifted my foot. Overall I am very satisfied with this shoe. Haven't even taken it out for a few mellow hikes.

    Really comfortable shoe

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large

I've worn this shoe for a few trail runs so far and it is super comfortable. The upper is plush, the toe box is wide (though not Altra wide by any means), and the cushioning feels great.
This is a really fun shoe and will be a great all-around shoe or for hard, dry trails.
There are a few cons I've noticed but none of them major. 1- The laces are too short. If you have to use the heel-locking lace thingy it makes it hard to tie in the end. 2- They run a half size large, at least for me. 3- They are a little heavy but honestly, because of the responsiveness of the shoe, I never really feel it.

    Great shoe + full disclosure

I have to admit, I'm pretty easy when it comes to gear. I'm lucky, I adapt easily. These shoes work great. Maybe a hair long for a ten, at least longer than a Salomon ten. Toe box maybe a little wide but we'll see once the uppers soften up. As for the midsole, the padding is firm compared to a Hoka, but almost too soft for my liking. 4mm of drop is a good amount. It feels flat to me. The outsole looks pretty knobby and provides good traction in the loose over hard trails we have here.

First time wearing these shoes was at the Zion Ragnar. Not a single blister. Super comfortable. Highly recommended.
