I'm a size 10 in most all shoes but the size 10 boots were just a touch too big, allowing my heel to slip when walking. The size 9 is a touch snug but I assume they'll pack out and fit better. I wore this ice fishing for a 10 hour day on a reservoir in Wyoming. Brr. I was wearing some thick Darn Tough wool socks. My feet were cold within 45 minutes on the ice that day. Outside temps were in the mid 20s. I think that my feet got cold because they were sweating a bit. Of course I didn't expect these to breathe but my feet don't sweat a lot normally so I didn't think it would be an issue. I hoped that the interior of the boot would help absorb and wick sweat but it doesn't seem like that's the case. Luckily I could go in to the ice fishing hut and warm and dry my feet in front of a Mr. Buddy propane heater. In some fairness to the boot, my feet get cold really easily ever since I went surfing in the PNW with no neoprene booties on. I think that I caused some permanent damage that day. I plan on adding some sheepskin insoles in the hopes that they will provide some extra R value and sweat absorption. Fingers crossed. The construction of the boot seems robust and they are quite comfortable to wear. The boots are light and they feel good to walk around in. I think that the placement of the cut out grab handles should have been at the highest extent allowable to cut down on snow intrusion when wearing them with pants tucked in. In fact, if I could do it over, I'd probably buy the version without the cutouts. All in all this boot is pretty good, especially when comparing to the heavy, clunky and high volume Sorels. I can wear these and drive a manual transmission vehicle without issue. If your feet sweat a lot and you're wearing these in the cold, expect your feet to get cold. I can't imagine how testing and proving a boot to -72 degrees actually works. My feet would be dead at that temp in these boots.

Too Large
We returned this boot because it was too large for my dad. It seems to be of great quality and it was super comfy!

These boots were recommended to me by a friend who owns a pair and has worn them over multiple Maine winters. I trust his judgement so I decided to give them a try since I'm spending more and more time in Maine. Backcountry had the best price I could find so I ordered them in my normal shoe size. Four days after placing my order they arrived on a cold Maine evening. I tried them on immediately and found them to be a bit more snug than I prefer; however, I removed the lower of two insoles and, viola!, they fit my size 9W feet just right. They are very light for their size and quite comfortable to walk in. Since they had been on an unheated UPS truck for the previous 12 hours, they were pretty cold but that did NOT translate to cold feet!! I fully expect these boots will protect my cold-sensitive feet in whatever Maine winter can throw at them. I have high expectations for these boots and if they disappoint me, you'll read about right here.

I am a sales rep for Bogs. This is our newest boot and it features "Flowmold" construction creating a boot that is 30% lighter than a typical rubber winter boot and still maintaining a temperature rating of -72 degrees. It comes with a two piece removable insole so you can take one of them out to accommodate half sizes. They have an insole made of Rebound rubber which makes them very comfortable to walk in all day. Also available in a mid height if you do not want the tall boot.
