Octopus Backpack

The Octopus Pack has been a stable in Blue Ice's collection for years. It's perfect for sport climbers whether they're training at the local crag or traveling internationally to visit the crags of their dreams. It carries comfortably with padded shoulder straps and a webbing waist belt that both tuck away to look like a rope bag once you're done with the approach. A stiffer back panel would be better

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

45 L capacity is very good to fit in everything. And lots of pockets (both internal and external) makes organizing stuff easy. Also, I liked the clamshell design which keeps the backpanel and shoulder straps clean of dirt when you place the pack on the ground. And price is good. Only downside is backpanel carrying system is a joke. There is no stiffness. If the crag you are headed includes more than 15 minutes of hiking, say goodbye to your project, all the load is on shoulders.
