Why We Like The JR Hood Print

We like that BlackStrap's Print Hood Balaclava keeps our kids covered on ski days. BlackStrap equipped this balaclava with the necessary weather protection whether it's sunny, snowy, or windy. Once our kids remove their helmets at the ski lodge, it's pretty easy to spot their colorful heads.

  • Protective balaclava designed for skiing or snowboarding
  • UPF 50 sun protection shields from harmful UV rays
  • Anti-odor technology keeps fabric free of odor

Perfection

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Fit:
True to size

Our son is 7 and got his last winter when he was 6 and it still fits well but he is on the smaller/normal side. Any larger than his size and I’d say you’d probably want the option for the next size up. He wears it skiing as well as when we hike. For reference, he wears a size small ski helmet.

The neck part of this balaclava would not fit over my son's head. He is 4yo. Granted, he has an enormous head, but when you receive the product, it has size info that I could not find when I bought it. The "kid" is supposed to be age 2-7 and head circumference 19". There is a "child" listed (that I can't find on backcountry) with head circumference 20" and "junior" with "21." I have the adult version for myself and love it.

Absolutely love it, so does my son.

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Fit:
True to size

Finally, something that works under a helmet, doesn't fog goggles and comfortably blocks the whole face. Five year old loves it. Getting one for my wife and me.

Best balaclava out there....

We bought this for my daughter, and wound up buying one for each family member. It was cold in Utah over the weekend (temps down to about 5 degrees), and this was the perfect cover. It keeps you warm enough in the morning when the weather is in the single digits (you will not feel warm, just not cold), but then is perfect when the temps rise into the twenties. For the adult version, my goggles never fogged. It is pretty breathable, but I pulled the front down easily for tougher runs. The ability to pull the face part down under your chin was why we so preferred this brand (you can't do that with the ninja styles). The junior size was perfect for my daughter (she is 4 feet tall), but I wound up buying the adult size for my son (who is 58 inches tall).
