    Too unique to pass up.

Not many bike accessories are light, tough, and friendly on the ol' billfold, but the Blackburn Slick Cage pulls it off, which makes it something of a unicorn in the bike world, and you can't pass up the chance to ride with a unicorn.

    Not stiff for bolts

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These work good if you're looking for a cheap, lightweight option. Be careful as the plastic cage is not the most durable and will bend/crack if overtightened onto the frame. I had a tough time getting these to align on my frame as the bolts kept twisting the cage during installation.

Cheap, lightweight and get the job done!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Just like the title says, this thing weighs nothing, holds a bottle well, hasn't broken on me and it's super cheap!!!
Pick one up and you won't regret it

    Light, Strong, and Cheap

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this cage mainly due to how light it was. I was very curious to see how durable it was, and it has completely blown my expectations away. I have been using on my XC bike for about 2 years, and it has performed flawlessly, never having a bottle slip out. It may seem flimsy without a bottle in it as it can be bent quite easily with one's hand, but when it has a bottle in it it never lets go. I am planning on buying more.

    Not bad

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought a few of these for a couple of bikes. As everyone is saying, they are definitely light weight and a little on the flimsy side. But all and all, they do a fine job of holding my bottles.

    Not the best

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This isn't the sturdiest cage, but it is one of the lightest. I typically prefer function over form so this cage only stayed on my bike through a few rides. I didn't have any particular problems with it, but I was sure to be very ginger with how I inserted the bottles.

    Great, if a little delicate

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

As others have mentioned, this is a delicate water bottle holder. One reason I bought it was for how light it is. To achieve that with a plastic material, of course it will be thin and less than robust. So long as you're careful with your gear, I don't see an issue. But I'm sure if you try to slam your bottle in, there's a good chance you'll crack it. But so far I'm very happy with it!

    Blackburn slick cage

These are super light plastic cages which will not last if you ride more then once in a while. The two piece back flexes and turns when you insert a water bottle - loosening the screws and is really flimsy. You get what you pay for

Does the job, but a little flimsy

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The first thing you will notice about this cage is just how thin the material is. Major kudos to Blackburn for achieving such a low-weight cage with a polycarbonate material. It holds onto bottles well, and I have only lost one when taking my road bike onto some pretty chunky gravel / hard pack sections of I would call that user abuse and not blame the cage.

The first drawback with this cage is related to my opening statement. The material is THIN. When loading a topped-off 26oz bottle, the weight and height of the bottle itself leads to more side-to-side sway since the material bends so easily. I would recommend using a 22oz bottle with this cage and not go any larger.

Secondly if you find yourself frantically trying to put the bottle back into the cage when you realize that the group is dropping you and it's time to mash, you're going to break the cage. I've done it. Hit the upper-most portion of the cage (where you see the little blackburn flame logo) with the bottom of your bottle and some piece of the cage will shatter. Mine broke near the bottom.

Bottom line: A bargain cage that holds (small) bottles well, but it may not last too long.

      Good cage

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have run high end expensive carbon cages on my bikes but I keep coming back to these. They just work, and they are light. The best part? They actually hold my bottles so they don't rattle around.

      So Far, So Good!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have been using it on my road bike for 3 months now, and I am really happy with it.
I haven never had anything better than the wire free give-away bottle cages, and this is a pretty good upgrade for me.
It holds bottles in place, and it is extremely easy to put the bottle back while riding.
No issues with bottles falling out, or breakage. Lets see how they hold up.

      Pretty darn solid for price

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is probably the best value cage there is. Period. It may flex a little but that honestly helps its longevity as it can withstand impact or a missed bottle placement better. Some have said that it looks a little cheap but I have a white cage and a black cage on a Ridley Fenix and it actually looks pretty clean. For those looking to save weight this is great as well as it weighs almost nothing and is a mere fraction of a carbon cage. I would consider stocking up on several of these and if one does have an issue then I can easily replace it.

      Not too shabby

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I gave this as a present for my father in law. He loved the sleek, look of the cage. It's light weight, fairly sturdy, but I'm curious to see how it holds up with wear and tear.

don't put it on your dogma F8

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are an adequate cage to get you by, they are light, but on the flimsy side. They aren't going to break on you, hey are just not as solid as a more expensive cage. It's the old saying you get what you pay for. I bought these as a back up set and use them on a cross bike, if I was more serious about cross I'd probably upgrade.

      Super lightweight; holds bottles well

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Your bottles won't fall out with these cages. They aren't the most stylish cages, and they certainly aren't going to impress your friends. But if you aren't too concerned about looking PRO, you'll still get the featherweight benefit that people pay tons more for carbon cages to get, and have money left over for gear that actually matters for performance.

These may not last as long as machined aluminum or carbon cages, but you can buy five of them for the price of one carbon cage, so you do the math.

Great value. Lots of colors to match your frame. No brainer.

      Great cages

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I know it can be scary to buy something so cheap for our beautiful expensive bikes. But I have these cages is black and have used the same two cages for the past 3 years and have never had a problem. I've used them in every kind of road race there is. Plus, they are super light! You can barely find Carbon cages this light. Honestly, as long as they keep making this cage I will buy/recommend them.

      light, but flimsy and weak

I bought two of these recently. The first broke after one ride. The other lasted 250 miles before it was so cracked and wobbly I couldn't trust it. Don't waste your money. I bought two Elite custom race cages and they are waaaaay better and I got them at a great price.
