Lock It Up and Stay Safe

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Not all Carabiner's are created equal. The screwgate locking carabiner's by Black Diamond are light, compact and super durable to keep you safe no matter what the application. I use mine to anchor up at the top of the thousand of sport routes within the Wasatch Range. Paired up with your favorite sling or daisy chain, lock it up and focus on the task at hand while staying confident in your protection. They are smaller than most locking carabiners which does not bother me but can be cumbersome for people with bigger hands. Love these carabiners and have been super impressed with them so far!

    Light and secure

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

For my use, occasional canyoneering this suits my needs. Decided to try this out because I was having a little trouble inserting the rope with a spring loaded locking gate. Just be sure to turn the screw lock closed.

    Light but Cramped

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Used for: Mostly climbing multi-pitch rock routes
Good: light weight and easy to use, function well for basic needs
Bad: These carabiners are ridged and therefore make it harder to belay up a second using a reverso/atc guide because of the added friction. Sometimes added friction is good, but not in this case. I prefer the rounded carabiners such as the Black Diamond Rocklock which also are a bit larger around the top making it easier to handle a cordalette without fussing with trying to squeeze it off.

    Great Caribeaner

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These are a standard size, so perfect for just about everything. I love black diamond and you can never have too many caribeaners!
