Stable as a table.

Most good trekking requires travel through rough terrain, and while moving through ragged boulder fields, mushy swamps, or steep scree will certainly slow you down, it shouldn't make you turn around. You'll be able to power through the tough spots like a champ with the help of the Black Diamond Trail Pro Trekking Poles, which feature a tough aluminum shaft and new FlickLock Pro extension system, made of stainless steel to increase clamping force and durability. Whatever terrain you find yourself in, you'll be steady and sure-footed, courtesy of interchangeable rubber and carbide tips, a dual-density grip, and foam grip extension that's ideal for switchbacks and steep trails. The Trail Pro weighs in at a measly 1.5 lbs per pair, so you'll hardly even notice them in your hands or lashed to your pack.

You NEED Hiking Poles

My husband was never a believer in Hiking Poles. But after I got these for him, he is a complete convert. He loves them for ups, treacherous downs, and keeping his arms/ upper body engaged. They really do make a difference.

These are super easy to use. The grips are comfortable. They are light, but not flimsy. Great product!

    Heck. Yes!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I am in love with Black Diamond Poles, and these beauts are no exception.

These poles replaced a 7 year old pair of heavier BD poles and I have been so pleased with how they've performed. I used them on a 6-week expedition in the Brooks Range this summer. Through tussocks, scree, boulders, and lichen, while carrying an 80lb pack, these poles never once failed me or collapsed.

The grip is super comfortable and easily adjusted for bare hands or gloves. Personally, I never used the extended handle bit, but I think would be helpful on other terrain. The carbide tip held up well, and BD sells replacement tips if they ever do fall out (or get stuck in a tussock...).

I was most impressed with the lightweight of these poles, allowing me to save my energy for holding up other things, like Moose racks.

    Heck. Yes!
