I had the chance to test these out on some pretty steep and technical terrain and I was so glad that I had them. In addition to providing stability, they also helped out with easing some of the pain that my legs would have otherwise felt. I highly recommend these poles, and if you haven't tried trekking poles then you need to! They really help you keep more gas in the tank so that you can push further and higher without absolutely killing your legs

Light and Sturdy
- I've used it several times
I don't have much experience using trekking poles but these bad boys work well. Lightweight and sturdy. What more can you ask from them? They give you stability when the terrain gets rough, rocky, and snowy like in my case. The cork grips were comfortable and my hands weren't sore at the end of the day. If you are looking for some nice poles give these a good hard look!

Poles make a huge difference.
- I've put it through the wringer
I had an old pair of REI brand poles that were OK, but nothing special. They worked for snow, and didn't see much action other than that. I recently realized my backpack was getting too heavy with camera gear, and I needed to ease the suffering of my poor feet and legs. To be honest, the Trail Ergo poles look goofy in pictures, but I gave them a try anyway. Now, with a heavy pack, I don't have to fight the weight of the pack pulling my down and backwards. The poles give a nice push behind my steps to push me forward using the best possible leverage point up at my arms. I can double my speed on flat ground and uphill without straining my muscles. Or I can go at a regular speed and just coast for miles and miles without and soreness. The ergo handle is also pretty crucial. I was worried that it would make it awkward to hold the tops of the poles cupped in my palms, and it is actually kind of weird to hold them that way. It also causes the poles to bend because of the off-center point at the top. BUT. I don't ever need to cup the tops of the poles like I would on straight handled versions. With the bend ergo design, I just extend the length of the pole if I need to and hold the handle just as usual. The 15 degree angle makes it easy to hold even when pushing down from the top of the pole. Also, mine came with powder baskets. Pretty huge ones at that. I also got my poles on discount, so maybe mine were from a previous model year that came with powder baskets?

- I've used it several times
First time using poles on the trail and couldn't be happier with the performance and versatility of these bad boys! Immediately felt like the these cork grips were custom fitted just for me, super comfortable and the angled orientation just feels natural. Starting my trek it was a noticeable gain in pace, like being propelled by the poles. On the first steep climb it seriously felt like putting it into 4wheel drive(extended EVA grips were great for short inclines). Likewise, the downhill was sooo much more controlled and virtually eliminated the shock on knees and hips. Rounded tops are very comfortable as well. The flex tips worked perfectly crossing creeks with small bowling ball size rocks. Got bound between rocks a couple times but no breaks. The flicklocks held great and only slipped 3/4in on one after catching myself from a nasty spill (another big+). With that, the only negative I have is not with the poles themselves but in the tech specs they show baskets included were trekking and powder. No powder baskets included with these. Backcountry was awesome enough to send me a second set right away but still missing. Not a deal breaker they're only 8 bucks but something to note and hopefully correct on the description. Super happy and definitely recommend these to anyone considering.

- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
Feedback from a friend: "The trekking poles are amazing. My friend and I did a 40-mile hike and these sticks were crucial to helping us complete the hike. I think the sticks allowed us to conserve about 10%-20% of our energy during the hike. They are very durable, and they can be adjusted to a variety of lengths."
