Solution Guide Harness - Women's

Comfortable and light

I was a little skeptical about not having adjustable leg loops but they feel good! I am 5’3” and 125# and the small fits me great! Used them about 5 times so far and taken a few falls and they’re great and comfy!

Gear loops are way smaller than the Men's Solution Guide!

I bought this harness on recommendation from my partner, who is also a climbing guide. He found the material to be way more durable with heavy use, so I was excited to try it after my current harness got shredded pretty quickly in Joshua Tree. I was frustrated to find after opening it that the gear loops on the Women's Solution Guide harness that I ordered are significantly smaller than his Men's version. There is no reason that a female guide or trad climber would need to carry less gear than a male guide / climber. There is nowhere near the space I'd need for long routes with a double rack, slings, and all the other tools I need while guiding / climbing. Super disappointed and will be returning this harness.

Great job Black Diamond on this harness. It was a little smaller than expected, but overall looks and fits good; we’ve already gotten use out of it!

Great with some odd choices

I was looking for a more comfortable long day, hanging belay trad harness. This harness does get points for comfort, with a wide waist band that sits in the right spot. The gear loops have proven trustworthy, but the back loop makes me nervous without the reinforcement. I believe it is meant to not catch when working on chimney routes. The biggest drawback is the leg loops which are not adjustable. This makes sizing difficult as legs do not actually come in a standard size. For me, the waistband is at its tightest but leg loops are stretched to the max while still being wearable. This has caused the elastic on the leg loops to show wear almost immediately, becoming wavy. Overall very decent harness.

Fits like a glove, feels more durable than the regular solution, has the extra gear loop on the back and the nice wide leg loops. Great harness!

Bomber material

This harness seems so well made, with beefy material. It feels comfortable and ready for trad climbing. Unfortunately for me, the waist fits great but the leg loops are fixed and are too big (even with my skier thighs)… I returned it for one with adjustable leg loops.

Sizing is a bit snug.

Overall, it’s a comfy harness. I’m a full-time instructor and guide, so I wear this harness almost daily and for hours at a time. My one gripe is that the harness is pretty snug. According to sizing charts I should be square in the middle of the large size, but I have to pull the webbing out to the max just to squeeze it over my butt and hips. Every time I take my harness off, I am worried about de-pantsing myself because of the tightness. I wish that the webbing would extend out another couple inches to accommodate those with a larger hips:waist ratio, which is more common with larger folk anyways. I’ve definitely commiserated over this same issue with other larger climbers and specifically Black Diamond harnesses. Climbing is an emotional sport and no one wants to feel body shamed by their own harness.
