Revolt Headlamp

A Black Diamond best seller, the Revolt took backcountry skiers, alpinists, and climbers by storm a few seasons back when BD redesigned it with a burlier casing constructed with storms in mind. You can rely on it when you're skiing through powder pre-dawn, rappelling off the route in the rain, or spraying ice chipped off an ice axe. Now, Black Diamond redesigned the Revolt Headlamp with more power and BD's patented PowerTap technology for easy toggling from on-and-off to any lighting you desire by a simple tap. No buttons, just a tap from your ski gloves, mittens, or chalky fingertip.
  • Rechargeable headlamp designed for black diamonds and beyond
  • 350 lumens ideal for climbing, touring, and trekking
  • PowerTap technology toggles through dimming and modes with a tap
  • Brightness Memory remembers how dim it was the last time it was on
  • Modes include proximity, distance, strobe, red light, and lock
  • Rechargeable batteries included; can also use AAA

Solid for the price

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Fit:
True to size

This thing exceeds expectations. Bright, durable, waterproof, and all for a great price, if you need a headlamp that will get the job done but don't want to break the bank, look no further. From skiing downhill after an evening tour to a mellow night hike, the Revolt has yet to disappoint.

Solid performer, nothing special

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I purchased a ReVolt headlamp after using a rechargeable Petzl for a number of years. Before that I had an old (2013) Spot, which I really disliked. My most demanding headlamp uses are climbing/descending, and ski touring. For me, the ReVolt checks all the boxes for a functional all-around headlamp without being a particular standout. Pros: - Bright enough for hiking and climbing - Not bulky or heavy - Two button system is adequate and reasonably intuitive - AAA-swappable and rechargeable battery with indicator on the outside gives you lots of options to make sure you've got light when you need it - Constant brightness feature means the headlamp won't dim as the batteries run down - Brightness memory is great, I use it to save battery life by dimming the lamp to the lowest light I need; and then the headlamp will remember it if I turn it off and back on - Has held up fine under moderate use for about a year, inc. minor exposure to moisture Cons: - Brightness is merely adequate - Battery life is merely adequate If you're looking for a solid rechargeable headlamp with no major cons, the ReVolt has you covered.

We tried to open the door on the side after taking it out of the package. It broke. We got a replacement sent to us. Hoping there was just a manufacturing fluke and the next one will work as designed / intended.

Handy Lamp But Bad Batteries

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Fit:
True to size

I've used my head lamp extensively and am happy with my purchase. The rechargable batteries that come with it are pretty poor which made me give it 4 stars. It looks like the model has changed since I purchased mine, so take this review with a grain of salt.

Not a very solid product

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I'm sure you will read this in the other reviews but I just got this headlamp and charged the battery however the plastic cover for usb port is not going back in properly thus making an opening for water and dirt getting in there. The function seems to be fine after one outing but the built quality is definitely poor. I own a black diamond storm 375 headlamp from a few generations ago and the build quality is much much better on that headlamp. Trust me wait for the next generation or buy an older model with good reviews.

A typo in the tech specs. The high-power and low-power burn times claim to be the same...
