Glued seams come apart
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
On the whole I really like the pack for the size, pockets, and breathable waist straps, but the seams around the main zipper broke open after just a few uses of the pack (within a few weeks). The seams are glued rather than sewn with thread, which seems like a huge design flaw for a high pressure/tension part of the pack. Specifically, the seams along the sides of the zipper were peeling. At this point, I'm now avoiding products like outdoor gear that use glue rather than sewn seams on likely break points and avoiding "seamless" clothing that also utilizes glue instead of thread. For the price of this pack, I expected better design. Had I noticed that it was a glued seam, I wouldn't have bought this. I was using this pack and filling it with a comparable volume as my second hand (similarly sized) mountain hardware pack with sewn seams that lasted close to 1.5 years of daily use before the zipper itself started failing (but yet remains relatively reliable).
