    Comfy and Cute

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I absolutely adore this harness. The padding is extremely comfortable, it's easy to adjust, and I'm a huge fan of the fit (thicker loops and waist belt). The material is as durable as it is pretty (it puts up with my ridiculous lifestyle like a champ!), and dat color tho.... <3 There's a reason (or ten) why this is one of Black Diamond's most successful products!

    Perfect fit

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have used the harness for almost a year now and still in good conditions. I love the way it fits. I am about 115 lb and the small fits perfect. I tend to wear a jacket in the winter and it makes the harness more snug.

    A beginners bestie

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have used this harness several times. As a new climber, I absolutely love the fit and comfortability! No pulling or grabbing at all. Breathability was a nice touch as well. I ordered an xs and I'm 5'1", 110lbs.

    Fits fine

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

It works fine. I'm a new climber 129 lbs and the small seems to fit fine. I do like that I can adjust it around the thighs as I have thicker thighs. Good purchase in my opinion.

    Harness for the Small Ladies

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got this as a gift for a friend and she was appreciative that this harness comes in an XS so that it fit her properly. Before she was forced to just cinch down other harnesses as much as possible.

She also liked the elastic in the leg loops which made the harness extremely comfortable.

    Love it!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love my Primrose <3 Super comfy and easy to adjust. My only complaint is the sizing chart is off. I got a medium because of the dimensions on the sizing chart and I have mine as tight as it goes. I should have gotten a small.

    Love it!

    Also a newbie

I purchased this harness after using my friend's. It's very comfortable and suits my needs as a beginner climber. I actually bought it in a package with a chalk bag, belay device, chalk sock and carabiner. It was so affordable, especially for someone just starting out. I don't think you can go wrong with this purchase if you are just starting.

      Ideal harness for entry level

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Great entry level sport climbing harness. Comfortable and easy to adjust. We've have used it on a couple top ropes and lead climbs. Feels great and fits well. For the price, it is well worth it.

      Solid Harness

I purchased this as my 14 year old daughters second harness. It is easy to get on and off, the speed adjust is awesome. She loves it and finds it to be really comfortable. I think the adjustable leg loops are a must for ladies.

        Easy and Comfortable

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I picked this up as a gift for my sister and she really loves it. She has to use harnesses for work at the climbing wall where she works and says they are dreadfully uncomfortable. We looked around and decided to go with this harness due to its ease of use and the fact that she only uses it inside on the wall.

She loves the harness and says that it is way better than the harnesses her work provides and is super comfy, that it basically seems like nothing is there at all.

        Works well, and comfortable.

        • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

No complaints with this harness. It functions well and feels comfortable while climbing. They plan on using it until it wears out.

        Popular for a Reason

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This harness is a great way to start of (and progress with) your new climbing career--comfortable, adjustable (ahhh for the legs), reputable, and at a price that leaves enough for the shoes and chalkbag. Get after it!

        Great First Climbing Harness

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I am still pretty new to climbing I picked it up in Squamish one year when we had a terrible winter (aka no snow). Anyways I started top roping and picked up this harness when I felt like I needed to stop borrowing my buddies gear. This is awesome! Its sturdy and durable and easy to use. I use is outdoors and in gyms. Looking to start sport climbing soon and I think this guy will hold up!

        It kept me alive!

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I used this harness on my first climb and it was perfect. It was more comfortable than I intended and seemed sturdy. I was overall happy with this product

        Great gym harness

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I got this harness as more of a backup harness, but end up using it all the time. It's more comfortable than I expected and the speed adjust leg loops are easy to use. The downside of the speed adjust is that there's a bit less play with how you want the harness to fit, which is why I mostly just use it in the gym, where I'm not sitting in it for hours on end.

        Passing it on

        • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

When I first started to climb I got this harness as my first harness and I loved it. As my climbing progressed I found that I needed different things that this harness could not give. My friend just started climbing and I felt that it was only appropriate to get her this harness to start out with. This harness not only is great to learn on it's comfy and looks super cute. The harness runs true to size and I would highly recommend it for any beginner that wants to learn the ropes!

        Hi Jane,

I'm curious what features you needed in a more advanced harness that the Primrose couldn't provide? I am pretty new to climbing, but am going indoor and outdoor and don't want to have to buy a new harness next year because a needed feature is missing. Thank you! -Jen

        Hey Jennifer S.

For long ascents on big wall, weight is a huge issue. I needed something lighter. The waist belt and leg loops are thicker on the primrose than on my own harness which adds weight when I already have to pull up all the gear I need for my climb.

The gear loops are great but on mine they are angled so that every time I pull a quick draw off the next one slides down the loop to be closer to my hand so I'm not having to worry or look for my next draw. Also, it's just personal preference, but I don't like adjustable leg loops they are just one more thing to fiddle with and I find them uncomfortable.

These are minor things if you are not big wall climbing so it's not an incredibly important feature that made me change harnesses I just had different needs for the type of climbing that I wanted to do. This harness is an awesome all around harness for beginner to intermediate climbers. I hope that this answer is helpful and if you need any more help please feel free to reach out to us.

        Cheers!

        Jane H.

If I get this harness and it ends up not fitting, is there a return policy so I can get a different size?

        Hey Krista:

Yep! We accept new, unused items any time for a refund or you can return used gear within 30 days of delivery for store credit. The BD Primrose was my first harness and I highly recommend it to all lady climbers out there.

        Happy climbing!

I am right at a 30 in waist. I tried on the M in a store and it fit but was tightened as tight as could be and still felt slightly loose. Would you recommend sizing down to a S? They didn't have a small at the store I could try on.

        Unanswered Question

Nr two review (Jenn W) shows picture of gear. My twelve year old daughter is very in to colours, and the harness on that picture is with purple ; would that be the smoke version ? Not easy to see on the discription pictures.

So, I'm fairly new to climbing and quickly realizing that owning your own gear is the way to go. This harness seems like the perfect choice for me to start with. However, measurements wise, my waist puts me at a medium and my legs put me at a large. Any recommendations on which way I should buy?

I would definitely fit the waist, so go with the medium. The legs should have some adjust-ability and work for you. If it does not you may need to bump up to a little pricier harness like the http://www.backcountry.com/black-diamond-lotus-harness-womens?ti=UExQIENhdDpDbGltYmluZyBIYXJuZXNzZXM6MToxMjpiY3NDYXQ4MTEwMDAyOTQ&skid=BLD3365-FIG-XS which offers more adjust-ability in the legs.
