Less prep time regardless of what you like to climb.

No matter what type of rock you like to jump on, you'll get on faster with the Momentum Speed Adjust Harness from Black Diamond. A SpeedAdjust buckle on the waistbelt combined with the TrakFit leg adjustment system means less time spent fiddling with buckles and more time cruising up your favorite granite. With the harness' Dual Core OpenAir EVA foam waistband, your comfort is pretty much a given, not to mention the low-profile fit and bullhorn-shape make this harness great for wearing with a pack. Four pressure-molded gear loops and a 12 kN-rated haul loop ensure that you have plenty of spots to rack and carry your gear.

    All the right places ;)

Great beginners harness the fits and feels great in all the right places, feels super secure and the gear loops have plenty of space and are pretty solid. Great snag for the price. Stay sensual.

      Comfortable and Affordable

Great Harness for the novice climber. Padding is great making heavier falls much more mellow which increases your confidence when climbing. All in all a great harness for the price.

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Comfortable, easy to use, good price. Padding is great and doesn't interfere with your climbing but is much appreciated when you fall. If you're looking for a harness that will serve really niche needs, maybe hunt around a bit more, but would recommend this to any novice/intermediate climber. Great all-around harness.

      Great harness for the price

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

So far I only do top rope in a gym, so I can't comment on using it for outdoor lead climbing etc., but I've found this harness to be a great buy. It's well-padded, surprisingly light, easy to adjust, and most important, I feel completely safe in it. The material also breathes well so my waistband and leg loops never get sweaty or anything. I haven't noticed any issues with chafing. I'm sure some of the more expensive offerings from Petzl, Mammut, or even Black Diamond itself are superior in some way or another, but probably not in terms of bang-for-your-buck. I'm pretty skinny (5-8, 135) and went with the size small and the fit is perfect.

The only negative I can see is that the gear loops feel kind of flimsy. That doesn't mean they actually are, but they seem oddly wobbly compared to my perception of the solid construction of everything else in the harness. This doesn't matter for me climbing in a gym since all I hang on them is a chalk bag, but if you're outdoors and have a lot of gear to put on them it might be something to consider. Last, I want to comment on adjusting the harness. The first time I used it, I found it extremely comfortable to climb in right from the start, but surprisingly belaying was very uncomfortable/pinching up front. I played with the legs loops (no dice) but then found that the problem was that I needed to significantly shorten the straps connecting the back side of the leg loops to the waistband. Once I did that, the leg loops sat under my butt more and distributed my climbing partner's weight more effectively. Now I don't have any problems.

      Great gift with great feedback!

I got these for my little brother and this is what he had to say:

"The harness is comfortable, easy to adjust, and is fairly inexpensive. I'd recommend it to anyone getting into climbing. All around great product! "

      Great First Harness

I got this for my boyfriend who is just getting into climbing, it is super lightweight and comfortable. The leg loops and waist are very easy to adjust. I go him a size medium he has about a 32 waist.

      Reliable comfortable harness

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My first harness. Easy to use with self double backing buckle. Instructed in this harness and hung for long periods of time comfortable. Able to hike in easily. Plenty of gear loops for sport climbing. Stuggles under the weight of a rack, but great for new climbers.

      Reliable comfortable harness

      Super comfortable

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have used this harness about 5 times a week at my university's climbing wall for top rope and some lead climbing. It is extremely comfortable, and lightweight. The molded gear loops are great for holding quickdraws. Overall, it is a great first harness, at a great price, from a great company.

      Really Great Harness

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've used this harness several times and have loved it.

The leg adjustment straps are really quick and easy to use. I've used previous harnesses where you would have to tighten the buckle and double back the strap for safety. The TrakFit system avoids this problem. It also avoids the problem of dangling leg straps. This makes it great if you have to share harnesses with other people at the crag.

Another plus about this harness is the weight. It is a super light harness and when I use it, I can hardly feel it. It feels like I'm not wearing a harness at all.

My wife has now started using this harness as well and she loves it just as much as I do.

Overall, really great harness at a really great price

      Great for beginners

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm new to the climbing scene and I wanted to buy my own harness and shoes so I can tag along with my friends. This harness has been great for me. It is comfortable and user friendly.

      Momentum Harness

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The size fits perfectly as well as remains very comfortable. I took a pretty decent fall before the slack caught up, (15+ feet) and it was a very comfortable fall. Always have your belayer paying attention! I use indoor and outdoor all the time and it performs as expected from Black Diamond. The price for how well this harness performs is stunning!

      It's a solid harness

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I picked up three of these for my friends for a canyoneering trip we are taking in Zion in a few days. I've had great experiences with this harness in the past and don't see any reason I won't continue to have them this time around.

The harness is comfortable, fits as described, and is a great value for the price charged. I've never had any comfort issues with this harness, and it is well constructed. If you're looking for an inexpensive starter harness, this is a great choice.

      Great all around harness!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had my BD momentum for over three years now and I just retired it for another momentum. This was my first harness and I used it for everything from cragging, challenge course facilities, SPI work to all day multipitches. It is very affordable and you really don't need much more. I trad climb 95% of the time and it has enough room for a double rack and I also wear it in on long approach hikes with gear on it and it's still pretty comfy. Hanging belays aren't the most comfortable but it's better than plummeting to my death so.. my brother has a big wall harness and I've sat in it so see how much more comfy it is and for the price difference I can't say it's that much more comfy. I would recommend this harness to anyone starting out to anyone looking for a new harness after wearing another one out. You can buy this affordable harness and spend the money you saved on new gear or gas to the crag. I am a 35 waist and I have an XL.

High on performance, low on price.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

It's amazing that this harness is Black Diamond's "bottom shelf" harness, because it kicks ass without busting my bank. I've worn this harness ever since I started climbing in gyms, and now I take them up big walls even though they aren't necessarily big wall harnesses. As far as comfort is concerned, climbing was never supposed to be comfortable, and it gets the job done. Don't get me wrong though, this harness isn't like tying a rope around you like the good old days; you'll stay relatively comfortable.

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

First of all, this is a relatively inexpensively harness. The harness is fairly light weight and the gear loops are big enough to carry a standard double rack. Not a huge fan of the speed adjust at first, but it's fine now that I'm used to it.

I found that the harness is uncomfortable for even semi hanging belays or belaying heavy people. Specifically, the waistband rubbed painfully on the top of my hip bones. None of my past harnesses have caused discomfort.

The harness is somewhat bulky. This is noticeable when stuffing it into a pack and when climbing/sitting in it.

This harness is fine for short cragging days and non extended use. Wouldn't reccomend for multipitch routes or long trips. I'll be buying a new harness in the near future.
