Mission Pant

The Black Diamond Mission Pant is here to serve whether your objective is a steep skin in the backcountry or a steeper downhill in the resort. Gore-Tex gives this thin three-layer shell reliable waterproof breathable protection for powder days and intense snowfall. Fully taped seams enhance waterproofing by preventing a single snowflake from seeping through.

Black Diamond also equipped the Mission Pant with angled, offset side zippers for fully-circulated ventilation. There are more zippers on each cuff for easy access to ski boots and the pant's integrated snow gaiters. Keprotec reinforced the cuffs for long-lasting protection against crampons and ski edges. The Pieps Pocket fits Black Diamond's Pieps avalanche beacon perfectly, and it has Poron XRD foam to protect the beacon from impacts.

  • Fully-featured ski pants for everything from groomers to pow days
  • Gore-Tex membrane ensures waterproof, breathable protection
  • Fully sealed seams keep moisture from seeping in
  • Regular fit allows for easy layering underneath
  • Offset side vents dump excess heat in a pinch
  • Snow gaiters with gripper elastics prevent snow from sneaking in
  • Removable belt adjusts easily for a customized, secure fit
  • Protective PIEPS Pocket and integrated internal harness stores beacon
  • Item #BLD00CP

Really well thought out pant

Have used these now for resort and BC about 20 days total. Love the design overall. Pockets are excellent, well located and easy to access. Beacon pocket is useful, though I'm not convinced the "padding" is necessary and it makes the pocket a little bulkier than it needs to be when the beacon isn't onboard. I like the zips on the sides to access your boot buckles without opening the bottom of the legs. My only real problem with them is the fit is a little weird. I'm 6'2" and 190 lb and the size #L is big on me. I wear a size #L in pretty much everything and my BD Alpine softshell pant is a #L and is a close fit so I'm not sure what they were thinking with this pant. The waist needs to be tightened a lot in order to keep them in place. I have a 34" waist for reference. They're also really long! I'm sure you could wear these if you were 6'6" or even taller. But fit aside I am really happy with them. It's a really well thought out pant that's a pleasure to ski in.

A great gore tex ski pant! Great material that has kept me dry but allowed my body to breathe. I have used these pants a few times so far while backcountry skiing, I really like the beacon pocket, which I think is a great idea especially if you don't always like to wear the chest harness. Have good venting. Had to knock off a star as the fit is a little different as they ride a little higher then I typically wear my pants, but its not a very big deal to me.

These pants look and fit great...more importantly they are full of features. Some things i love so far: boot adjustment zippers, it is so nice to open them up and have access to quickly adjust the BOA closures on my boots. Gortex: keeps you dry in all conditions. Pockets, pockets, pockets. Things I havent loved: kind of high waisted, zipper pull on front pocket broke on the second use (working with BD warranty to get fixed) no big deal. I have used these pants 10 times this season for resort riding and so far am very pleased. I an 6 feet, 165 lbs, 30 inch waist, and wear a small.

These pants are great. I am 6’1, 165lbs, pretty skinny in waist. The small actually fits me super well. These pants seem to be made for my body type, lanky, etc. I really like the length (even with a small - I could see how a dude shorter than me could get a M or L and have them be too long) and the way they stay on the boots with side access to buckles. The pockets are aplenty, and I like the beacon pocket with padding (can use beacons aside from pieps obviously). The stitching seems to be just as good as arc-teryx pants and you can feels good with the 50-100$ lower price tag, plus support local SLC ;). I also find these to be quite warm and allow for ample movement.

Sizes Really Strange

I liked the looks of these pants, so I ordered a pair in medium. I am 5'11'' 165lbs, so pretty average size I think, and the pants were way too big, waist size and length. They had to be pulled up to practically the bottom of my rib cage to not drag on the bottoms on the ground. I then ordered a small, thinking that these pants must just run large, and the small was so small I couldn't even get them on. I will be returning those as well. It seems I am right between the sizes, which is a shame because they seem like nice pants - the fabric is tough, especially down by the ankle, where ski pants tend to get torn up. Also fyi, there is no convenient place to hang a lift ticket/season pass if you regularly ski at an area that hasn't gone with RFID passes yet.

Fantastic Pants

So I've been using these pants for ski patrol. I opted to use my own pants rather than the uniform pants (they are all black, and we have that option). The mission pant has more storage, allows more anatomical flexibility, and has been bulletproof. even with kneepads on underneath, the knees have not shown too much wear and tear aside from scuffing - not torn yet, and don't look close to any real damage yet. The other reviewer is correct in that they are longer than some pants, but frankly I find this very desirable, especially as we are booting into deep snow on a regular basis, and the length keeps the pants down on the boot (and the snow out). I've been in the pants for more than 25 days so far this season (16-17) and have other patrollers asking me what brand and model they are. The front leg pocket on the left leg is completely useful as it holds paperwork, maps, and other items. The beacon pocket, while flagged as Pieps, holds other beacons as well, and lets me have the beacon on me without the cumbersome shoulder and torso straps. The front pockets are also huge, allowing me to effortlessly carry extra materials (straps, rope, etc) without compromising any motion. Highly recommend these pants, and i'll likely get a second pair.

nice pants, way too long

I have other black diamond pants that fit to size. These are four inches too long. Nice pants, but too long and way too much at bottom cuff to try to just deal with it. I tend to wear a 36w x 32L in normal pants. Approx 5'11, 190 lbs. I bought sixe Large: These are good at waist, butt, and leg, but wayyyy too long. Otherwise color and construction were just what I wanted. Too bad.
