overall good, hoping they stretch

Thumb is a little tight, I got XL hoping for a little extra room but find them snug. I wish they sold XXL

9 out of 10 things right, but the one miss is a deal killer

I've owned two pairs of Mercury mitts, and both have been so close to perfect, yet each pair had a fatal flaw. The exterior is a thing of beauty. Waterproof and sturdy leather construction. The fatal flaw on both pairs of mitts for me is/was the liner. On the first pair, the liner lost it's loft after two seasons, and thus, it's warmth. I called Black Diamond to ask about this, and they told me I'd just have to order another pair, "sorry". So I ordered another pair, and they seemed to have a better liner until I realized it's a lobster claw liner. I thought I was buying mittens!! An exterior mitten with a lobster claw liner is the worst combination, in my humble opinion. I wanted mittens so that I could better maintain warmth by keeping my fingers together. The lobster claw totally interferes with that objective, and since the exterior is still a mitten, they don't improve dexterity, again the worst combination.

Mercury Mittens

Great quality! I first wore these same type of mittens last month in Alaska on a snow machining adventure. That pair were borrowed and I knew I wanted to buy a pair of my own when I got home. It was -12 down to -35 during the 5 hours and my hands stayed comfortably warm.

Basic mittens

Purchased these based on recommendations of them being extraordinary warm. The warmth has been disappointing to say the least, they are comparable to the warmth provided by mittens I bought for less than half the cost. I have used them less than 10 times and the liners are already packing down. As generic ski mittens, I think they are fine. However, if you’re looking for something to keep your cold fingers toasty and you run cold, look elsewhere.

Warm and Durable

These seem very warm and durable! Great for cold and snowy resort days, but they're a little heavy and bulky for bringing into the backcountry on all but the coldest days.

My hands are finally warm!

I always suffer from cold hands, especially when first going outside in the winter. I finally decided it was time to invest in some proper winter mitts. A little online research pointed me to the Mercury Mitts which reviewers said was the only mitt that kept their hands warm. I'm happy to report that these mitts live up to their promise. Warm, comfortable, with loads of thoughtful features. Definitely worth the investment!

Great mitts

Got these and wore them the first time in -30f temps. Provide enough dexterity to drive or do other simple tasks but still plenty warm. Really comfortable lining and plenty of space for your fingers while still being warm.

Best Mittens Yet, Warm, Dry, and Everything I wanted

No more cold hands! These mittens are more than enough. I no longer have cold hands which was my biggest issue on the mountain previously. I expect these to hold up for many years to come.

Wax?

These gloves are great and they keep my hands very warm. Is it necessary to wax the outer leather periodically? If so, what wax is best to use?
