Super safe and super convenient. Usually you have to choose one or the other.

Solid -Shock Proof Biner

- Fit:
- True to size
Love this biner, used it many times over the past two years, in the gym and outdoor. The locking feature is completely trustworthy and easy to use and makes for quicker security. I have never had the auto-locking magnets fail on this piece of equipment. Probably going to purchase more for future climbs.

Click to your hearts content

PLEASE keep in mind that it isn't safe to click this while belaying because you definitely are opening it while on belay. It's fun, just be safe. This model is suggested for belaying and not for hangers or cleaning due to it's size. The smaller version with the gold lock is for cleaning! It's small enough that it won't get caught in the hangers!

fun carabiner
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Not only is this carabiner safe and easy to operate with one click, it is really fun to click. You will definitely annoy your climbing partner if you get this, but you will also be able to operate it with one hand and unless you have at least 2 fingers on it, it is always locked.

Fan of the magnetron

Seems a little gimmicky but overall this is my favorite autolocking biner. Having this as a belay biner is a new standard for me as its critical but generally a non-hurried situation (don't have to think about the slightly different method to unlock/lock).

Pretty cool!

I just like the magnet. Definitely not a necessary piece of gear but it is kind of fun to have. Very easy to use and safe. Even thought the magnet is automatic make sure you always check it when belaying. Its just good practice.

Revolutionary, with some issues
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This thing works wonderfully most of the time. I got it because I was looking for a medium sized carabiner that I could easily open with one hand, for belaying and using on the end of my personal anchor sling. Since I'm also climbing in the winter conditions I wanted something that would work well with a single gloved hand as well. Winter is the problem here. The magnetic contacts tend to ANNOYINGLY freeze up in cold weather, virtually locking it to whatever it's attached to (this could just be to the gear loop on your harness as a best case scenario, or a fixed line that you've attached yourself to and now can't get off). And suddenly I turn into that weird guy who's been banished to the back of the line, sucking on a carabiner to get it to melt and open. That takes longer than you'd imagine sadly. So I'll be keeping this thing for my summer adventures (because it's USUALLY a joy to use), but in winter and spring it'll be staying home in my gear bin.

Hard to open
- Familiarity:

I got this Carabiner to make use almost exclusively for belaying. My gripe with it is that it is difficult to open with just one hand, which is really all I needed this Carabiner to do.

favorite belay biner
- Familiarity:

I love this carabiner. This is my second one of this type, and I must say this color scheme is bomb! They're super easy to use - and I've never had any failures. I primarily use this for belaying, and I'm not sure I'd want to use it for anchors/canyoneering - it seems like dirt and sand could clog this up and cause failure. I love not having to futz around with screw gate biners every five seconds when belaying.

Set it and forget it
This is my favorite carabiner, no easier locking carabiner to operate with one hand. It is slightly heavier though.

Ease of use.

Great size and shape. I generally use them for building anchors with the rope. They are especially nice because you can rotate them 360º through some chains and some bolts.

Looks cool. Always locked.

This is my second Magnetron (my first got swiped). The new matte black finish looks great so keep an eye on yours! I use this locker to belay in the gym. Super-safe. I took my first one on a couple of trad outings. It worked great but I didn't like getting it all scratched up. The release levers are probably a bit hard to manipulate with gloves so I don't use it for ice climbing.
