    BD's smallest.

Having a light as tiny as Black Diamond's Iota Headlamp can come in handy on any outdoor adventure. It's clearly an essential for hiking, backpacking, and camping—especially when you have to leave the tent in the middle of the night for an impromptu bathroom break—but it's also small enough to fit in the fullest backpacks for climbing, skiing, and mountaineering. You might not be planning to play past daylight, but mistakes happen and sometimes you reach the car in total darkness wondering what happened. At the very least, the Iota makes an excellent spare or backup; at the very most, the Iota can brighten the way on most adventures that extend past daytime.

    Simple and Easy

I have used this headlamp for trail running and have been very happy with it! Super light and bright enough. I like how sleek and low profile this headlamp is, which is perfect for high output activities since it doesnt bounce like normal headlamps due when you are really working. Being rechargeable is really the kicker for me though as I know that I dont have to worry about replacing batteries.

      Excellent headlamp for camping

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased the Black Diamond Iota headlamp earlier this season. I've been extremely happy with its performance. I like that it features the USB charge option seeing as I always have a portable batter pack to charge my phone and GPS. It's nice not to have to carry extra batteries. It is very bright and stays secure on my head with a variety of headwear. Very comfortable to wear. The headlamp operates for a long time on a single charge (4hrs on max power) and I've never run out of juice during my travels.

      Perfect Size and Rechargeable

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Have you ever rode your bike at night and tried to store a bulky lamp in your pocket? Have you have pulled up to camp and had your lamp die on you. The Iota solves both of these issues. This is my go to lamp, and as I used to work for Black Diamond, so I have used them all.

      Emergency Or Everyday

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

A great little headlamp! Small enough to store away in your car, pack, or pocket for when night falls sooner than you planned and you need to see, and still powerful enough to use day to day as your go to light source. I'd get something more powerful if you're out where you need to see a huge area (late night skiing, climbing, or more technical activities) but around camp and for emergencies, you can't do much better. The rechargeable feature always adds to my love for BD headlamps!

Great at camp, less great on the trail

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a headlamp well-suited to wearing around camp or urban running, but the brightness and beam distance makes it subpar for climbing, hiking, or other extended after-dark activities in the mountains. In fairness, the product specifications make it clear that it ranks below average in brightness and distance, but if (like me) you were in a rush to buy it and were not yet fully conversant in what different lumen and distance ratings feel like in the real world, you might find yourself a little disappointed.

Ultimately I'll still take this as a back-up or on a trip where I really don't expect to be doing much by dark; but on anything where I'm likely to climb/hike/ski a substantial amount after dark, I'd want something more powerful.

      Love Rechargeable Tech

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Running, walking my dog in the morning, sitting around camp - this headlamp is good for most average conditions you can out it through, and much like the rest of the reviewers, I'm a HUGE fan of the fact I can simply recharge the battery when it dies. Simple, smart and does the trick!

      Re-chargeable Brightness

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great little headlamp that packs alot of light. Than you are able to even adjust the amount of light which is awesome. It is also rechargeable, so no need to worry about batteries. (It is mico-usb, cable included) The strap is secure and snug, without being uncomfortably tight, and is easy to adjust. I would easily recommend this to anyone looking for a reliable and versatile headlamp.

      Light weight and rechargeable

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This may be one of the best lights to use while running! Its lightweight and bright enough to light the road and it's rechargeable so you won't have to keep replacing batteries.

      "it works"

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought my husband a second head lamp because he's always stealing mine. I asked him what he thought, he said "it works." It doesn't have the red light that I require (as a photographer) but it does have different brightness levels. What I really liked about it is that it's bright and very little and compact. Considering that he uses his mostly at work I think it's great.

      No Nonsense, Bright Light

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I gave this to my girlfriend and this is what she had to say: "This headlamp is great if you're looking for a no nonsense, bright light. It doesn't have a lock or a blinking light but it will do that trick in the dark. It's also light weight and I love the bright blue color, makes it easy to find around the camp site! If you're looking for a fancy headlamp, this is not the headlamp for you. If you're looking for something in the cheaper price range that will light your way, however, this is it!"

      No Nonsense, Bright Light
