Part of Black Diamond's new ultralight, high-performance binding line, the Helio 350 Bindings balance burly release ratings with a ridiculously low weight for backcountry skiing. It's Black Diamond's burliest backcountry binding for skiing the rowdiest lines and deepest powder with the utmost performance. Despite its burliness, the Helio 350 only weighs twelve ounces to make the skin track a little easier. This binding also features a unique 5-position heel riser system that assists when the skin track gets steep. The toe piece's lever is easier to use with pole tips, and the heel adjusts 30mm for precise security with most boots.

sturdy and light weight

This is my first BD binding. I'd only skied Dynafit in the past. I much prefer the Helio 350 to the Radical ST: It's lighter and easier to clip into the toe piece. It's all about the up-hill for me, as I typically skin at least 4,000 vert and want to keep weight to a minimum. I had these mounted on Fischer Hannibal 96 skis, which may be the lightest backcountry ski made. I ski aggressively (but keep my skis on the snow) and have never had a problem with prerelease. Love these bindings. FYI, they are made by ATK.
