Fritschi Xenic 10 Bindings

Fritschi took a significantly lighter step in the newer collection of backcountry ski bindings, and the Xenic 10 only weighs a bit over a pound, per pair. Despite its lightness, the Xenic still retains DIN release ratings suitable for most backcountry skiers. Both front and heel units are remarkably broader than normal to ease stepping in and out. The binding itself is infinitely adjustable, with 10mm of compensation for a defined release when it counts most.
  • Exceptionally agile binding for ski touring any terrain
  • DIN rated from 4 to 10 suitable for most backcountry skiers
  • Broad step-in pedal for easy clipping in and out
  • Infinitely adjustable plush 10mm length compensation for release

Lots of issues

I've put it through the wringer

Once clipped into the binding the downhill performance is great. The binding is, however, plagued with lots of other issues. The toe piece is most troublesome. Locking out the toe piece takes a lot of force often requiring both hands. This feels very sketchy when in the middle of a steep line. and forceful jerky motion can throw you off balance. Steeping out of the toes can be just as hard and it sometimes sticks to the boot. In addition, I snapped the heel riser within a month of owning the binding. Edit: After a few more uses lots of plastic parts on the toe peice broke off making it not stay in walk mode.
