FirstLight Tent: 3-Person 4-Season

Black Diamond designed the Firstlight 3P Tent for weight-conscious climbers focused on seeing the sunrise at a summit. It boasts an ultralight weight for a 3-person, 4-season tent, and it packs down small to leave more room in your pack for climbing gear. Black Diamond's NanoShield single-wall fabric offers light protection for alpine showers or the occasional snowflake, and you can purchase the Sil-Net seam sealer to amplify protection for adventures with a harsher weather forecast. NanoShield is incredibly breathable, and there are zippered mesh panels to enhance ventilation in warm weather. The DAC Featherlite poles set up inside the tent to provide tight weather protection in windier conditions.

great tent but had to upgrade

really saw the benefit of this tent but needed the added waterproof capabilities the Hilight provides. Again great tent otherwise am in the process of returning and have ordered the new tent system.

Wettest night in a tent

If you enjoy condensation in decent weather, and waking up to constant dripping if it rains this tent is for you! Easy set up, decent weight, but just can’t rely on it after waking up with all gear, boots etc soaked after bringing inside the tent to prevent just that.

NOT FOUR SEASON

I took my boy on his first back pack trip using this tent and it rained. He never wants to go again now. We got very wet. Do not use this tent unless you know it's going to be good weather the entire time.

I purchased this item and hiked deep into the woods for a few nights. This item was light and had plenty of room compared to other tents that my friends had.

All around great tent

I’ve been issuing REI tents for years, thought I’d give this one a go. It is insanely light and quick to set up. It’s handled well in snow storms up in the Wasatch and windstorms out in Moab. Make sure you grab a ground layer, but other than that it’s a great purchase

Lightweight but wet

Does not come seamsealed! I bought a firstlight last year and diligently seamsealed all the seams. Used it a few times in dry southern california and was stoked. Then had it out in some more adverse conditions (rain specifically) in idaho and it was WET. Condensation dripped on us all night and rain permeated the seams. Its a great concept but not ideal outside of desert/alpine environments.

Light. Easy setup. Performed well. Vents were awesome. Haven't used in wet conditions yet. I would recommend this for a two person bivy looking to save weight. 👍🏻

FirstLight

Have used this on several ski traverses and alpine missions and really like it. The 3p version is nice for two regular sized humans with gear. The 2p version can accommodate two small humans up to one small and one large. Vestibule is a must for winter travel.
