Fineline Stretch Rain Shell

A narrow margin separates bluebird days and afternoon thunderstorms when you're in the mountains. Here to strike that perfect protective balance, the Black Diamond Men's FineLine Stretch Rain Shell acts as a lightweight, waterproof, breathable, and windproof shield against the elements for your alpine adventures, from rainy trail runs to escaping freshly-bagged peaks as torrential storms roll in.

A 2.5-layer BD.dry construction keeps rain, sleet, snow, and wind at bay, while allowing internal moisture to escape easily, as the four-way stretch face fabric enables a full range of motion for levels of comfort not usually found in rain shells. Gusseted panels in the underarm areas further open up your mobility. The adjustable, climbing-helmet-compatible hood ensures that safety isn't compromised, and a zippered chest pocket stows the entire jacket for easy packing.

  • Light, stretchy, protective rain shell for days in the mountains
  • Waterproof, breathable, windproof protection thanks to BD.dry
  • Slim fit keeps protective features close to skin
  • Gusseted underarms help you move freely
  • Adjustable hood, hem, and elastic cuffs cinch out the elements

BD Fineline Stretch Rain Jacket

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Nice and light, good fit, nice colour. The chest pocket is great. And the hood is a decent size to accommodate helmet use with easy cinch. I do wish there was 2 cinches at the bottom rather than just the one. Bunches up a little funky. The one thing I do wish there was is a zip garage. The zip tab in Scotland was flapping around all over the place and really annoying. I’m 6’4 200lbs and XL fit perfect.

I had trouble finding a rain shell jacket that I was not swimming in. I am tall and fairly thin and smalls were too small and mediums were pretty baggy on me. This rain jacket fits me perfectly, and has room enough if i wanted to fit my down jacket underneath if I was in colder weather. Have not been able to test it in heavy rain, but in light rain it keeps water out very well.

Thanks for the review Craig! I'm stoked you found a rain shell that finally fits, Black Diamond coming in for the win!

This jacket felt great pulling it out of the bag. BD always makes high quality gear, so that is certainly not in question. HOWEVER, this is def designed for alpine type stuff. It's very minimalist and slim fitting. If that's your type of rain shell then go for it! Otherwise look elsewhere for a more average fitting shell
