very comfortable, features aren't great.
- I've used it several times
- True to size
I have used this for a couple long hikes and runs. The vest is very comfortable, I didn't really notice it at all while I was moving. Some of the adjustments could be hard to get to while you're moving but it wasn't a problem for me. The materials this vest are made of seem very durable, I didn't worry about my ice axe or micro spikes putting any holes in the material at all. Unfortunately, a lot of the features don't work very well. The ice axe attachments are hard to use especially if the pack is full. As other reviews have noted, the front pockets don't hold soft bottles very well( I tested with Solomon branded bottles). hard sided bottles for cycling actually fit pretty well but make the other front pockets hard to access and aren't as easy to use on the move. Water bladders effect the fit of the pack causing it to push into your back. the top closer for the main pocket is a pain to adjust. trekking poles are hard to get back into the holders after you remove them. overall this is very comfortable and durable vest but it seems like a lot of the features weren't tested very well.

Terrible Vest Pockets
- I returned this product before using it
- True to size
Unfortunately, even with all the other outstanding features this pack has to offer, BD has seriously dropped the ball on the most critical element of a running vest - THE POCKETS! First, there are apparently two different versions of these BD packs floating around the marketplace, with the vest pockets being significantly different between them, yet both designs having serious flaws that ruin the design. BD is not a running company, and unfortunately, in their rush to expand into the trail/mountain running market, they have botched this product. The Distance 8 that I received has vest pockets that do not have a cord and toggle adjustment mechanism, or the "BD Deploy Logo" as shown on many of the product photos on the web including on backcountry. Instead, the pack I received has vest pockets that are a stretch mesh without any adjustment mechanism, and an opening so narrow that wider 500ml soft flasks such as those made by ultimate direction do not fit. Perhaps a taller and narrower flask would fit (maybe?) but then what happens as you drink and the flask gets smaller? Check out the Distance 15 photos on the BD website for reference. There is no way to adjust the pocket and secure a bottle while running. what a huge failure. And the BD branded hydrapak bottles which maybe hypothetically would fit in this vest 1. do not come included, 2. are more expensive than all the other flasks on the market, and 3. are out of stock on BD's website leaving you to wander the interwebs hoping you can find the appropriate bottle for this terrible design - i hope hydrapack hasn't changed their design! It appears that the original toggle and cord design was so bad that BD changed it to a more streamlined stretch mesh design without any adjustment mechanism. Yet this design excludes the majority of flasks on the market, and will have you launching flasks off mountainsides as soon as they become half empty. I am so disappointed in this product. The pack material and size is great. the pole storage and axe holder features are nice. And I could even overlook the vest adjustment toggles being buried in the vest pockets. . It illustrates to me that BD wanted to get into this market as quickly as possible without doing the necessary work. BD clearly invested big $$$ into this product (at least for the marketing budget), but, to mess up the pocket design - the whole point of this product - is unacceptable, and ultimately dooms the product. One other point here - the vest pockets themselves are so far down the vest that you have to remove the flask to drink. Most every other running vest out there has high flask pockets so you can bend your neck a bit and reach the flask as it sits still in its pocket. It is just such a shame that the vest portion of this product is such a mess. sad...

Great fit, but difficult to use closures
- I've used it several times
The fit is awesome! Extremely comfortable when the pack is loaded. However, the closures and the side adjustments are difficult to use. Check out the video for more details.
