    Super Bright

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love it! This headlamp is super bright and the batteries seem to last an exceptionally long time! This would be a great gift item for just about anyone! Thank you BD!

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this to keep in my car and for regular camping. I like the headlamp. Feels a little more bulky than I was expecting though. I like all of the features but I feel like the buttons are more complicated than necessary. I would have preferred a click through approach to change settings. With this particular headlamp, there's two pressure points on the button for different settings, and you have to hold down the button for the red light and other settings. I just feel that kind of thing is unnecessary. Other than that, I like it.

    Easy and functional

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This headlamp has some great features that allow it to compete with other lamps at this price range. The lumen out put and battery life are exceptional, the functionality is user friendly, and the modes are useful and enhance the functionality of the lamp, Its great for commuting, hiking, or camping.

    Another one!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this as a stocking stuffer, but time and time again I come back to this head lamp for myself, friends, and family because it is durable, stylish, and functional. I recommend to anyone.

Best light for all your knitting needs

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

So I gave this to my sister as a present so that she could use it to knit at night, and I'm happy to say that she loves it. She tells me all the time how she uses it every night. So I can't tell you this is the best camping headlamp or essential for those night hikes to your favorite climbing spot. I can tell you though, if you are in dire need of that late night knitting fix, this is the light for you. Also the grey is cool and the light has a nice aesthetic to it.

    Very nice until it malfunctioned

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

We own several good quality headlamps with representatives from all the major manufacturers. This is the first from Black Diamond.

In most regards this light is typical of a good head lamp. It does all the typical things and at 200 lumens is fairly bright. What I noticed right off the bat is the head band. It somehow stretches with not too much tension. It's perhaps slightly more comfortable to wear than our Petzl lights and is unequivocally more comfortable than our B grade lights from Energizer and Field and Stream.

Update: after using this light on 2 trips and a little bit around the house it has malfunctioned.

    Fantastic Light

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is an awesome, affordable headlamp! It has quite a few different settings, which is perfect. My favorite feature is the red light that it has! If you are looking for an all around good headlamp, this is the way to go!

Good light at a solid price

BD comes through with a good light at a solid price. Bought these for basic camping, we're not thru hikers or anything. Works well and has held up through several trips. It has lots of light possibilities. The only problem I see is Switching from one lighting choice to another can a slightly confusing choice of buttons, until you get used to it.

      Rad for the Price!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I got one of these because they were inexpensive and its always nice to have an extra headlamp laying around. I was surprised with the brightness of this little guy. It really packs a punch for the size and price. Now this is not my go to if I am going backpacking or expecting to be moving a lot after the sun goes down. However this is a great option for car camping or having in the your pack for a spare if your buddy forgets theirs. Also a great option to have in the car for emergencies.

      Not Reliable

This headlamp’s battery door does not stay closed. It swings open with almost no effort at all, and has done so several times at critical times (Nothing quite like looking for batteries as the sun is setting and a storm is blowing in...without a light...). There seems to be a clasp designed to keep the door in place; It isn’t broken, but about as useful as if it were.
2nd Issue: If the batteries are even slightly low, the red light function turns off *automatically* after about 15 seconds. A very useful feature, unless of course, you are hanging off the side of a glacier, with no hands free and no way to turn it back on. When tested, the batteries aren’t even that low. My multimeter shows a continuous 1.2 V current, which means there is still about 30% of its lifetime left.
Please make this right. I’ve been a longtime fan of BD, and talked nothing but praise. I appreciate your help in sorting this out.

Great for night hikes and camping!

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this headlamp! It is super lightweight and the battery life lasts a very long time. I've used it on night hikes in the forest and camping. The red light is a must and all the lights have adjustable brightness. Whatever setting you turn the light off at is the setting that it will be at when you turn it on. The light also has a tilt so you can angle it down. The headlamp can be removed from the strap and the strap can easily be cleaned. Amazing price for how many features this little lamp has.

        No complaints

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This got me through a 3 night trip with no problems. I liked that there were different brightness settings, as well as a red light. I tended to use the lowest setting as an overhear light in my 2 person tent and the brighter ones for navigating paths in the campsite. Used the batteries that came with the headlamp without any issues.
